• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

    If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

    If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi again Caty! :wave:

Thanks for writing. You wrote: "Have you got anything about blaspheming the Holy Spirit?" (end quote).

I reply: Everything I just wrote is to let you know that if you've even ONCE asked Jesus to come into your heart, you are now a new creature (a new person), who cannot possibly ever blaspheme the Holy Spirit! You're SAFE!

You also wrote: "yes, ive asked Him that--multiple times to be exact, but my problem was i never understodd the thing about faith, i didn't know i was supposed to have faith i just thought it all happened around the "sinners prayer"---i dont know if i ever really believed before, i dont know what was going on with me ive lived w/so many doubts & stuff because of my ocd that i dont know if i was ever genuine or anything, but ive asked Him to come into my heart and change and help me." (end quote).

I reply: The bible says that no one can say the sinner's prayer unless they have faith in their heart first. So, the bible says that if you ever even ONCE asked the Lord into your heart, it was because you already had faith to even do it. Otherwise it would have been IMPOSSIBLE!:
==============================================================================
Psa 116:10 I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

2Cr 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Hbr 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is , and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (otherwise he wouldn't come or even pray at all!:doh:).

om 10:6-10 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down [from above])
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

1Cr 12:3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (underlines, parentheses, color and size emphases are my own).
===============================================================================

You REALLY need to "get dunked!":) Obviously you have never been water baptized. Most Pentecostal churches offer water baptism without membership. Probably there are other churches which do the same. Please don't hesitate to hurry!:) You'll really notice a difference.:thumbsup:

Best Blessings,

(i'm just trying to get rid of my fears)----but didnt many people do that and get saved???

didn't even one of His diciples do that, like 3 times and he was forgiven?

that is true it was Peter but of course that is not the unpardonable sin .

Caty,
I know that it's very hard for you to accept what the people here are trying to tell you when they say you haven't committed this sin because of the ocd.I know that many here have given you plenty good scriptures to focus on that would help you but I also understand where your at right now.People who have ocd have a terrible time,because they are locked into a circle of thought.

You have to understand Caty, just because you have had the thought that you have blasphemed ,doesn't make it the truth and I don't care how many time it plays through your head.Believe me, if this were true you wouldn't come near a christian board .To blasphemy is complete rejection of God, and it takes more then a thought to do that.
I struggled with OCD myself for many year's until God healed me from it,and this is why I can understand what your going through.
The struggle is only in your mind ..Fear is like a fertilizer to ocd,and it will keep it alive until you realize that what your having is a just a thought.The thought can't do anything unless you feed it.
The thought can not seperate you from God and it can not keep you from heaven,it's just a thought.
God said he hasn't given Caty the spirit of fear but of power ,love and a sound mind.
I know this is not an easy thing for you to do but instead of giving into the fear and placing your focus on commiting the unforgivable sin ,start saying to yourself it's just a thought and it's not real and then repeat the scripture above.

I do know that if your under stress right now from anything it makes the ocd worse.Caty it's never to late to give your life to Jesus,satan would like you to believe it is but it isn't.

Prayer's for Gods healing touch in your life.

I too have been delivered by these blasphemy thoughts. God told me to trust in Him, that He knows my heart and that I was safe with Him.

It disappeared.

I have spoken to you about this already Caty.

The next move is yours :)

You can let fear consume you (which is what the enemy wants, and he will thrive on that)

Or you can hold everything captive to the Word of God.

Pick the latter. :)

Hi Caty! :wave:

Please understand that, contrary to what you posted, you will always and forever have faith, because it's not from yourself, it's a free gift from the Lord. He put it in your heart. Did you think that you would ever have any faith without the Lord giving it to you?:confused:

The problem here is that you either don't understand or haven't yet believed what the Lord has solemnly promised in His Word. You seem to believe that there is much for you to do to get and/or keep yourself saved.

All the Lord needs from you is for you to say "please" once, and He'll do all the rest. Here's the proof. PLEEEASE believe what the Lord has written in His "contract" with people:
===============================================================================
ph 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us (made us spiritually alive) together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved)

Eph 2:8 For by grace (undeserved mercy) are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: [it is] the gift of God: (underlines, parentheses, size and and color emphases are my own).
===============================================================================

Or maybe you thought you would have to go down and bring Christ up from the dead? Or maybe that you would have to go up into Heaven and bring Christ down to save you? Paul says you won't have to do either, but that your salvation was already in your heart and that you received ("activated") it by asking with your mouth. The Lord has made it REALLY easy so that no believer will ever be able to take any of the credit:
==============================================================================
Rom 10:6-10 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down [from above])
7 Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, [even] in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Psa 116:10 I believed, therefore (for that reason) have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted:

2Cr 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

(underlines, parentheses and color are my own).
===============================================================================

It's all really very simple. You called - God saved you. That's all there is to it! So just forget it and go on walking with the Lord in His way, enjoying the great life He's provided for you.

BTW, It's not the so-called "unpardonable sin" you're worried about. I've already shown you from God's Word that now that the Lord has made you a new person, you can never do that . Even if the person you used to be before you called on Jesus for salvation blasphemed the Holy Spirit, it wouldn't matter anyway because that person is now and forever dead! ("The wages of sin is death").

I think there is something that YOU think is "unpardonable" and that is what is REALLY worrying you. No matter what it is, it's no problem for the Lord to obliterate it forever.:thumbsup: Now, the biggest problem is, can YOU obliterate it forever? You might as well. You can't go back in time.

Nothing surprises or shocks God. He's seen it all. He's seen sins we can't even imagine. For example, the Jews burning their own children as sacrifices to God accompanied with the sound of loud drums so the screams of the children couldn't be heard:
===============================================================================
Jer 7:30-31 For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.
31 And they have built the high places of Tophet, which [is] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded [them] not, neither came it into my heart. (underlines and color are my own).
==============================================================================

And yet for all their abominations the Lord has said He will never forsake His chosen people, and that they ALL will be saved:
==============================================================================
Rom 11:26-27 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this [is] my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

1Ti 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially (but not exclusively) of those that believe.

(underlines and color are my own).
==============================================================================

And PLEEEASE, stop thinking of yourself as so powerful that you can ever take yourself out of God's hand:
==============================================================================
Jhn 10:27-29 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any [man] (including themselves) pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave [them] me, is greater than all; and no [man] (including yourself) is able to pluck [them] out of my Father's hand.

(underlines and color are my own).
===============================================================================

Forgive yourself, the Lord already has!

Best Blessings,
"Arph"

I just want to start over with God and put this ocd behind me because it has taken over me (at the time in my life that i was trying to get my life straight and start fresh.) but i just want to believe that i can come to God--I fear He will push me aside and i'll think im saved but in tht end i'll find out that im not, because i think ive committed this sin. See whenever I was going throw a ruff patch of my ocd a couple months ago, I prayed to God that even if I had committed this sin---to please don't let me ever stop wanting Hima dn now I'm scared that I have committed this and He answered my prayers by maybe granting me that.

i just mean all the bad experiences ive had, but that were i feel like im never gonna be forgiven because i dont know if they were my ocd or anger at God.

Even if you were angry at God, you are forgiven. Everyone here has experienced being angry at God. it is common human thing. We repented and He forgave us. You aren't the odd man out.

Hi Caty, :wave:

Are you sure you're not confusing the Lord with some other person in your life, like a father maybe. And instead of letting the Lord do the judging you're obviously judging and punishing yourself, thinking you're God. Bad idea!

You didn't create this universe or yourself, Stop playing God. You certainly don't want to be a friend to the one who has decided to attempt "to exalt his throne above the stars of God," "be as the Most High," and "sit in the place of authority."

Best Blessings,

Actually, you can't make that assumption. Plenty of people have said those things about God, ocd or not, and have been forgiven.
