Immigration experts have warned that the unprecedented number of illegal immigrants entering the United States could have a significant impact on the apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives, as well as Electoral College votes.
After Biden’s inauguration in January of 2021, the president signed an executive order requiring the U.S. Census Bureau to determine the population of each state in the United States “without regard to whether its residents are in lawful immigration status.”
Experts have warned that both electoral votes for presidential elections and the apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives could be impacted by the inclusion of illegal immigrants in the decennial census, which could diminish the power of the American voter.

“Illegal immigration has all kinds of effects and among them is that it distorts the mechanics of democratic government,” Center for Immigration Studies Executive Director Mark Krikorian told Fox News. “Illegal immigrants aren’t even supposed to be here, so their inclusion in the census count for purposes of apportionment really is outrageous.”

That is one perspective. But, how about we do something that makes more sense according the writings of the US Constitution and the history of the laws in the USA?

It makes absolutely zero sense to me that illegal immigrants ought to be included in the population counts by the Census Bureau.

Illegal immigrants have always been counted in the census. Trump tried to stop that, but failed. Either way, the count was done in 2020, so the huge waves that have come during Biden's term won't matter.

Have you looked into all of the sorts of things that census numbers are used for? It's not just about where to put House districts. A lot of it just has to do with figuring out where to put infrastructure and other resources, which requires an accurate count of the people in a given area.

It makes zero sense to me that you’d want to exclude what possibly amounts to millions of people from a national population count.

Golly,
It is ridiculously easy to fool Trump supporters
you can mention that counting immigrants are going to sway the election and
a Trump supporter will be sure it is a democrat plot even though a typical Trump supporter
is sure a blue states are forcing migrants on red states.

I totally l agree that counting immigrants for electoral college votes is unacceptable
I also have no problem with people that think that the Trump Administration was better than
the Biden administration, but people should not let themselves be easily fooled.

“Fox News also noted that Electoral College votes are distributed to states based on the number of representatives each state has in Congress. As a result, states with an increased population caused by illegal immigration could receive more electoral votes in presidential elections.”

Get rid of the electoral college and problem solved.

Is that what you meant?

Because they are counting people, and contrary to Trump's statements, they are HUMANS to be counted in a census, not vermin to be exterminated.

GOP gerrymandering has always been a precarious balance of doing just enough but not too much. Small shifts in population can mess that up pretty easily. Perhaps the GOP should instead try the radical approach of adopting policy proposals favored by a majority of the voting public?

Silly goose, how will a healthy, well educated harmonious population fit into Republican voter engagement schemes?

Since the unborn aren't citizens, they shouldn't be counted as well. Right?

You know that elections are mostly an illusion anyway, right?

Elections rarely seem to matter, with the occasional exception. A lot of big money flows to selected candidates. Everybody else has to drop out as the money dries up. You finally get to vote for the people who the rich and powerful allow.

There were a lot of shenanigans in the 2020 election, which will likely be repeated in 2024. And then on top of that we'll have even more illegals voting.

Perhaps he's referring to that Golden Age when only rich white men could vote.

We haven't actually considered all those impacts. Does this give states like New York more representatives then? How exactly does this impact?

Do we count the unborn in the census? I don't believe we do. A pregnant woman isn't counted as two people in the census to my knowledge.

here were a lot of shenanigans in the 2020 election,
True but the few Republicans who did cheat were unable to affect the outcome. So apart from identifying the Right as the majority share holders of cheating it was largely a waste of their time.
