Aw, it was fine; I've been a pretty steady part of her life, she likens me to her Dad(her parents are married btw, just so there's no confusion) and I liken her to my little sister.

I've taught her how to play softball well, I was helping coach her team last year; she ... haha, I'm gettin' carried away.

Anyway, the 12th was easy to deal with I look forward to one of my very own someday, haha.

Lol Aw you sound like a very good uncle! I could talk on and on about my nieces and nephews but since I have 11 of them I will reframe

Yeah that is true but if I did I would only give them a cell for phone calls though. I don't feel like it is needed for them to send an unlimited amount of texts all day long.

IJWTS my (almost) 9 yr old has been bugging me for a cell phone for a while now. My hard and fast rule is that my kids will not have cell phones until they are driving on their own and then will only have phone capabilities - no text, no internet, etc.

The only way I will stray from this is if they end up on sports or other activities where they would need to be able to reach me during/after an event for transportation purposes, etc.

That said - I am the mom who will know where my kid is, who they are with, and what they are doing...without them needing a cell phone to communicate it to me.

Old-fashioned values FTW.

IAJWTS I did break down and give the little buggar a pre-paid phone that doesn't have any airtime, so he can technically say he has a cell phone but he doesn't have any phone priviliges. It got him off my back about the subject, so I consider it a win for me.

IJWTS-Since I know you all have a deep interest in what songs are in my head , I thought I'd share that it's currently "I Can Dream About You" by Hall and Oates. Still not a happy song, but I like this one and don't mind that it's sad.

I think this one got in my head because I've been looking up break up songs lately. I keep trying to find one to post in the songs/videos for exes thread. My problem is that I didn't have nasty break ups and I'm way past any heart break. Where are the songs for people who have no ill will for their exes and want them to be happy, while not being heartbroken, sad, or bitter?
