I love reading, so perhaps a bookstore. But with Barnes & Nobles, Borders, and a trillion book clubs out there (as well as amazon.com) there is fierce competition for such a business. So I would need to find a way to be unique and different from the others.

I KNOW. I'll hire a hot female cashier.

I would open up a huge fishing store, specializing in bass fishing. I would sell only high end fishing rods and reels, bassboats, and everything else related to bass fishing. I would also offer casting lessons, and have fishing seminars. It would be located close to a major lake, or even on it if possible, unlike bass pro shops. ( I'm actually planning on doing this when I finish school)

I plan to start a home based business designing custom designed christian clothing. I already have a website and a friend has already hired one employee in Banguedesh to do PR. That friend has plans to start a factory in Banguedsh doing fair trade and hiring people with fair wages as well.

But as far as how it will actually all come together, I don't know exactly. If God wants it to happen, it will. I only want to do it if it's God's will anyhow, as the business would be for him.

There are some great ideas in this thread. I've thought of a few myself:

1. Chick-Fil-A franchise restaurant.

2. Large book/music/media store which bought and sold merchandise, and had separate
sections for both new and used items. Also provided music lessons and featured live
entertainment and events.

3. Small newstand/convenience store located in an airport.

4. Free-lance "dating/escort" services provided to single women visiting Waikiki Beach.

5. Mattress store. The product practically sells itself, plus I would have little
worry against shoplifters.

i would do probably interior design. Get to be creative, sit in a nice office, draw people's ideas for them, heh.

This is my retirement plan but it's along the same lines:

Microbrewery/Corned beef House.

Microbrewery, mostly just to have a place for me and my friends to hang out in and hide from our wives, but we'll also serve corned beef sandwiches, and there will be a cow walking around in the back yard. Just for show though, we're not going to eat that one.

On St. Patrick's day we're going to paint the cow green, using brushes and rollers.
