If you could be any character, who would you be?

Bren Cameron from the Foregner series... or Banichi from the same series.

All my characters are guys. Hmm. Somebody write a novel with an awesome girl character already!

!

Huh? Gladriel, Arwen in LOTR. Hermione in Harry Potter, Tasha Yar in Star Trek NG.... or how about Xena or Gabrielle from Xena Warrior Princess?

Funny, I notice most of you pick characters who have to fight Orcs and dragons or evil spacelings, wield swords or other weapons constantly against enemies, always have people out to kill them, and have to endure lengthy physical and mental trials.....
No thanks! I've had to do some of that in THIS LIFE!:sigh:

Who would I be? Celeborn for a guy and Galadriel for a girl. Both lived relatively peaceful lives in Lothlorien, had a beautiful natural home, and had power to influence for good.
A second choice might be Elrond, though he did fight in the original battle against Sauron and had to go into Mount Doom. He also dealt witha lot of emotional stress, even though Rivendell was pretty peaceful to live in.
Aragorn & Arwen are cool - but they had hard lives.

Even though I am a woman, I would still like to be Commander Benjamin Sisko of ST:DS9.

He was always certain of himself and his presence was solid and strong. He also could laugh. I liked that.
I wouldn't mind being V'ger from Star trek 1

Anyway, I'll have to say Obi-wan from Star Wars. I mean, telekinesis, a laser sword, a place on the Jedi Council, a nice retirement home on Tatooine...I'll take it. Plus, Ewan McGregor's pretty hot.

I also get compared to Severus Snape from Harry Potter more than any fictional character. (Because I'm a moody, sarcastic chemist?) Not the most flattering comparison for a twenty-year-old girl, I know, but because there's a slight chance he'll end up doing something marvelously heroic and saving the day, I'll go with him. He's got the greatest sense of humor, after all. And, again, Alan Rickman was at one point pretty hot...

And finally, for the sake of having some pure sci-fi, I'd be Daniel Jackson from Stargate. The old Daniel, before they butchered his character come season 8-9. *grumbles* He doesn't have to do much fighting, but he has all this cool knowledge. And he gets to be ascended!

There are quite a few pretty awesome female characters out there.

Honor Harrington. Pretty much any work by Elizabeth Moon. A whole lot of the Darkover novels. Star from 'Glory Road' by Heinlein. Don't know how you might feel about Joan (or even count) from 'I Will Fear No Evil'.

Indeed I would be myself...a great character nobody knows. I can smile - but the smile is not yet a mile - without a friend.
I would be me...

Not a bad choice. I've actually been thinking of this one on and off for a while and I can't come up with any major characters who it would be fun to be.

As Tolkein pointed out is is much more fun to read/listen to great adventures than to be in them.

You read the Star Wars EU books? Jaina, Mara, Mirta, Saba even Leia depending on who's writing her are all good strong female sci-fi charactors. Riply from Alien.
Dax twice, Kira,7of9, Janeway, Torres from Star Trek.
Thats just off the top of my head.

But for myself I'll go with Han the reluctant good guy.

Marneus Augustus Calgar, of the Ultramarines.

For the Emperor!

Or Sephiroth.

Or Spawn, he's kewl, he went to Hell, got given the power to command Hell's army, and stuck his middle fingers up at the demon that gave him those powers, and eventually killed him. True, he hated God as much as Satan. Eventually, God and Satan fought. The fight was on Earth, and both God and Satan, equally, caused the apocalypse. 'Sall good, though, 'cause by then, Spawn was powerful enough to re-create Earth, somewhere else.

Or Col. Jack O'Neill. Just so I could go through the Stargate.
