  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If/where did you receive your indoctrination?

I went to a christian high school, no mention of evolution but nothing on creation either. Went to 2 regular primary schools. Remember getting the standard stuff of "millions and millions' of years, "a comet killed the dinosaurs" (not saying a comets never hit earth or whatever) and stuff about how fossils take "millions and millions" of years to form. Remember sitting there in the classroom, trusting my teacher (lolz) looking up at her in absolute trust, and hearing the above stuff, even though were young, something just doesnt sit right, and so although it does penetrate our supple young grey matter,we were designed with too much logic and the evidence is too clear, but it definitaley has effect. Only found out about 'creation' like 7 months ago or so. Never believed evolution and always believed Adam and Eve but in my own head there was no neat timeline to where it all 'slotted' in. The idea of billions and billions was still looming. Then one day after months and maybe 100+hours reading creation.com,creation stuff, and watching vids on youtube it was just like BOOM insta slotted in. It was amazing.

So if anyone else is interested if/where did you receive your indoctrination and if you did how long did it take to 'shake' it lol?

Throughout High School all I remember about Biology was cellular architecture and cutting up crustations, yeck! My Biology teacher in college, Dr Vee, gave us handouts of things like ATP various details about actual Biology and we did a lab demonstrating how the acidic and high PH soils effected the plants. My thing has always been apologetics and Bible study, I'm not a big church person and I've been to a lot of different fellowships. To date I can count the sermons I"ve heard on creationism on one hand.

My indoctrination came from the Darwinians who stir up the contention and controversy. When I first realized it was a part of the culture war I did some reading, did you know that the Scopes Monkey trial was over Social Darwinism and Scopes agreed to it eagerly. What happened was that someone with a grudge against a few fundamentalists went on a vendetta. Over the years I have gotten my indoctrination from evolutionists, Dawkins, Darwin and Dennet just to name a few.

The theistic evolutionists are the ones who taught me the Scriptures because had they not denied the clear meaning of the texts, I wouldn't have given it another thought. Discussions about apologetics and good Bible studies are hard to find, evolution will get you a quick start up that just won't quit.

Grace and peace,
Mark

Similarly, I was educated in public schools and all I ever heard from my teachers was Darwinian evolution.

The thing that shocks me most about that position is the fact that the tactics of evolutionist debaters has changed dramatically since the early days when Duane Gish, Henry Morris, et al took them on in public debates. I've personally been to or viewed many of those debates via recordings through the years. Those changes in tactics involve a change in defintions of such things as evolution itself; the laws of thermodynamics, entropy, biogenesis, abiogenesis etc. etc.

I have the classic definitions going clear back to Darwin and Huxley but they are no longer popular with modern neo-D's. Why? Because natural law keeps evolution from occuring in our world and the constraints put upon any such phenomena are very obvious in those very defintions. They had to be changed, i.e. the efforts of Peter Atkins to erase 'disorder' from the definition of entropy and replace it with 'dispersal' in order to disguise from the readers what really happens in all heat exchanges. Wikipedia among others let the cat out of the bag on this one:

Quote: "Physical chemist Peter Atkins, for example, who previously wrote of dispersal leading to a disordered state, now writes that "spontaneous changes are always accompanied by a dispersal of energy."

This is an Orwellian change. Perhaps the biggest reason why we cannot effectively communicate with the dedicated TE's on this forum is because they have been deeply infected with Orwellian style education that cleverly disguises error as scientific truth. They have been trained to not think any thoughts that are inimical to neo-Darwinian philosopy.

In 1984, the novel, Obrien says to Winston: "You do not exist", as Orwell wrote it. It never occurred to O'brien that if Winston did not really exist that he was wasting his breath & talking to an empty table. But like our counterparts who can't see the very truth of God even when it is laid bare before their eyes, they blithley declare: "You do not exist" as per their frequent argument, "You don't understand this matter"...even though we do understand, quite well.

It's Orwellian to the core, ladies and gentlemen. I am glad I got out before things got that bad.

I was raised RCC and was taught in RC schools for 10 years. My indoctrination was thorough. I recall a grade school nun telling the class that no intelligent person believes the bible is literally true and that of course evolution happened: you can't argue with [atheistic] science. (Recall that these are the same people who insist that "Thou art Peter..." proves the RCC is true and Peter was the first pope.) The rest of my education was consistent with that attitude and for the longest time I believed that anyone who believe in the Genesis account of creation was an idiot. But I believed the rest of Scripture was true, however skewed was my understanding because of the rest of my indoctrination. So steeply ingrained in me were their doctrines that when I left the RCC in search of God that it never occured to me to look at non-RC Christian churches. Instead I searched every Eastern religion and Western philosophy that at least superficially made any sense. Dissatisfied with them all, I relunctantly returned to the RCC, thinking to become a priest while I as yet disbelieved; it seemed like it must be true and I would eventually get it. I studied Scripture and RC doctrine and consulted with my bishop, hoping to understand. I could not understand the concept of grace.

But I digress. God saved me powerfully just as I was about to choose a seminary and proved Himself to me in several ways I could not have conjured. The first sermon from my new pastor was on Adam and Eve. He talked as if He really believed it literally. I laughed to God and said silently, "Tell me he doesn't really believe that!", feeling smug in my higher knowledge. What arrogance, I now see in retrospect. God had the better laugh.

About 3 days later at work I was remembering the sermon and suddenly realized I no longer believed in evolution. I had not read or heard anything that changed my mind. I couldn't tell you why I no longer believed, only that in the light of my newly found faith in God, it didn't make any sense. And I knew that God is true. God had changed my mind. On my lunch break I went to a Christian book store and bought several books on creation and against evolution. I read them all and still didn't know exactly what to believe, only that God's word is true. I have recently, after more than 30 years of being a Christian, come to believe in a literal six day recent creation. The Word of God is true.

haha yes

Mark yes what was that trial about? Did the creationists win it? Martyrs THAT IS INSANE So what definitions have been changed? That is amazing

What are the definitions? Yes it must keep getting more and more cunning, deceptive etc because molec biology etc is just getting too advanced and making it look like what it is-utterly r e t a r d e d, but we the lay public cant be allowed to see this on our indoctrination sets etc lol. I guess thats why the assault on I.D. is what it is.

That is very good jackmt that god unbrainwashed you lol so im guessing all catholics are taught theistic evolution?
