I can vividly remember being beaten up by a couple of bullies when I was a kid. I couldn’t tell you the day that it happened..can’t even remember exactly how old I was...8, 9 maybe. But I can recall like it was yesterday who the guys were and exactly the damage they did to my face...

I’m sure your parents remember seeing your cuts and bruises. And remember at least the week and year.

And if they reported the assault there is a police record.

That is what is missing in this case after 35 years or so.

Sometimes we have to have faith in the system of justice.

It's on account of faith in the system of justice that I want the FBI to investigate the allegations. Trump can keep lying about & crapping on our system of justice but there's folks with knowledge & integrity who will push for it to be upheld.

A blind dog may not see the kitchen table but can smell the cooking. If you get my drift.

A blind dog can smell bullcrap on the table better than some humans tall enough to see it and smell it who will go ahead & grab a spoon and eat it up.

Meaning things just so happen to work out for the right.

Is that what you thought when President Obama won the popular vote & the EC both times? Sure his nominee for SCOTUS never was given a hearing on account of Republicans obstructing but he got two justices onto the bench.

How much money has the Catholic church paid out to the victims of sexual assault who came forward 35 years or more later? Many who were victims were teens at the time too. Do you think that folks ought to go up to them, fart in their faces, tell them they're lying or maybe their parents just didn't love them enough to act, on account of not having reported sooner?

Well our society revolves around jurisprudence and has since the Roman Empire. It is what kept mob justice a la guilty until proven innocent out of our founding.

Many a woman was burned at the stake in Europe by false testimony and hearsay putting the woman in a position to prove innocence instead of the accusers presenting evidence.

That’s why we have a process and it is just.

I'm just saying that it's pretty weak to whine about something as petty as the fact that Ford wants Kavanaugh to testify before her. It's like complaining that the butter is sliced too thickly. The hearing is Kavanaugh's chance to confront his accuser and give his side of the story. If Republicans try to withdraw the hearing offer based on that, then that will look like an excuse not to hear the truth.

Total failure there. If she gave a detailed account she should at least remember the year. I can see forgetting an address after 35 years (or so) and an exact day.

Even in my investigation days an “on or about date” which included month and year was required. If not it was tossed out of evidence by objection which I agreed with. I also did not allow hearsay entered into the record of the proceedings. Yes it was a rape case.

Maybe....but it isn’t Dr Ford’s parents who are making the report...it is Dr Ford..!

In the same manner I couldn’t tell you the year I was beaten up, why do you expect her to know exactly the date...? I can tell you every detail about my assault, including the identity of the kids who beat me. She can tell us about every detail of the assault, including the identity of the attempted rapist/s...

How did we know Roy Moore’s denials no longer stood up? Yep multiple women came forward giving similar accounts.

It’s Friday night. There is at least another week before confirmation. Let’s see if Fords allegations are supported with additional women coming forward.

The alleged victim in this case doesn't know when or where this happened. The circumstances around the timing of the accusations are dirty and appear to be politically motivated. She said - and he denies it. There is nothing to investigate, and the FBI has no jurisdiction. If it happened, this would have been a local matter at the time or maybe a matter for parents to handle. I personally believe this is nothing but dirty politics.

All Ford has to do is take a drive to Maryland and file a report with the Chevy Chase police dept or DA. Done deal investigation begins.

By now, it seems like Kavanaugh should know what the allegations are. There might be a few details he doesn't yet know, but if he's innocent he can lay out the exact proof that shows it and then leave her twisting in the wind.

If she doesn't want to be in the same room as the man she's accused of sexual assault, I think that request should be honored.

Wrong. Sometimes a priest had multiple victims. Sometimes not. There are plenty of folks who've committed a crime against a victim but not multiple victims.

Well seeing as how the lady brave enough to speak up so far has had death threats that had to be turned over to the FBI, had the man occupying the White House write nasty & truly inane crap about her, & all else I hope nobody else has to go through that hell. Shoot a lady who just had the same name, Christine Ford, had total morons harass her. It's why I'd rather there be an FBI investigation into this.

Police departments have a history of ignoring complaints like this or blaming the victim. An FBI investigation puts impartial federal law enforcement behind vetting Ford's claims. There's no reason why her request should not be honored unless Republicans don't want to know the truth.

In a court of law. Again, this is a hearing to determine suitability for appointment, not a criminal case...jurisprudence need not apply...

It applies for civil cases as well. The order is logical. First the accuser brings the charges. Then the accused answers them. How does the accused effectively answers charges without hearing them first? Because this isn't in a courtroom, we ought to run the hearing like a Soviet tribunal, where the accused is presumed guilty by reason of his even being there, or do we conduct it with some semblance of the rules of Anglo-Saxon jurisprudence?

Petty, yet Ford's attorney is insisting on it. I don't think Ford really wants to testify. Saying so outright, however, would be tantamount to throwing in the towel and giving the confirmation process a green light, so she attaches conditions that are difficult to impossible for the Senate to meet. She acts as if by testifying she's doing the Judiciary Committee a favor...

Kavanaugh, on the other hand, is eager to testify on Monday.

By now, it seems like Kavanaugh should know what the allegations are.

Not first hand. He doesn't know what she would say in her testimony which could differ significantly what he's heard from others.

Well, it's not baloney. But I'll tell you what, I'd rather have a baloney sandwich than eat up the bullcrap Trump has served up about this. He's made the most truly ignorant & inane comments about this & I'm glad folks who possess an actual clue about FBI investigations have called him out on it, as in the article I gave to you.

The FBI has reopened investigations when new information has come to light. Trump of course has a history of not caring about integrity but other folks involved in this ought to show their integrity, push for the investigation. If the FBI determines there's no merit, then Kavanaugh can proceed with integrity. This has to do with the integrity of the Supreme Court of the country.

I suppose there is some merit to that, if we were dealing with an administration who cared about transparency and accountability. I dont think it would find anything substantive but I can see how it would have been almost automatic with Obama. I just think the allegation has only Ford as its source, so logically she would be questioned. I cant help but wonder what the consequence should be if she made the whole thing up. Anita Hill's career took off like a shot, she was celebrated as a hero.

Should the FBI investigate what would they be sending their agents out to investigate? Where is the corroborating evidence, who were the other boys involved, why did she wait so long to tell anyone? How would you have the investigation directed?
