I myself believe in a theological theory of evolution. That evolution happened gradually over time, aided by God. I find it too hard to believe that in 4 billion years only one "super-species" like ourselves has managed to come to existence without the intervention of God. But that's just me (well, maybe not just me). I plan to make no arguement of it. Continue.

It has been solved. The universe is not 10,000 years old, or 4,500,000,000,000 years old either. In a breakthrough discovery (yesterday at 5:13 my time), it was determined that the universe is only 5,000 by a very credible source.

So you were both wrong, put the arguement to rest since it seems that neither will be able to convince each other.
If we teach someting as science, it needs to be convincing, and evidenced, and supported, testable, observable, etc.
More foolishness doesn't solve the problem of the robbery of children's faith.

Thats because we didn't.

Good, it's the same old song and dance anyhow.

Its all the same. I dont think you will all be able to prove anything to those who don't believe. That goes both ways.
Not to all, maybe to some. Failing that, there are a lot of believers around, who might start acting like they believe one day.

To be fair, we're not the only "super-species" on the planet. We're the most technologically advanced, but we're far from the most successful, evolution-wise. Most insect populations are just as, if not more, biologically superior as humans are.

Yes, just wait until they see those dancing Leprechauns, then they can no longer deny the Merged World of Guinness and Leprechauns. The obvious proof of drunken Irishmen on Mars is impossible to deny. It was only drunkeness that masked the elevated decay rates, and boiled cabbage that clouded the colons of the most respected geologists. Using ancient cryptography and base four math (four leaf clover, even more proof), the universal constant spells out "Erin go Bragh".

How dad can ignore the obvious is beyond me. He can't even prove me wrong, but yet he will ignore everything I say because he does not want to be held to the laws of the great green one, the Father Leprechaun. Aye, let's all lift a pint in honor of the merged universe.

I heard there were 200 millions insects for every human. And even they pale in comparison to bacteria.

From the tip of your toes to the top of your head, bacteria outnumber your human cells by a ratio of about 1000 to one. And that's just on and in your body. A shovel full of dirt contains more individual bacteria than there are people on the earth. Bacteria live in environments that no other type of life is able to live in. For all of these reasons, it is hard to ignore the fact that bacteria (as a group) are the most highly adapted critters on Earth. I would give second place to nematodes, and third place to arthropods. Protists could fit in there somewhere, but I always found them to be boring.

An Irish atheist is one who wishes to God he could believe in Him. My Irish friend agreed, until having second thoughts, "'I can't help being an atheist, it's the way god made me.'"

An Irish queer is a fellow who prefers women to drink.

An Irish evo is a man of few words, but he uses them often.

You may be an atheist, Loudmouth, but are you a Protestant or a Catholic atheist?
Irish must belive in the flood, I heard one say, "Thank god for water. If there was no water we wouldn't be able to learn how to swim and then we'd all drown. "

The Irish Mafia makes you an offer you can't understand.

Humans are not just superior technologically to other species. But who am I to judge wheter Humans are the supreme species or not.

If Genesis is completely literal, you mean.

The age of the Earth has nothing to do with the Bible's veracity.
Or with your interpretation of evidence as to what the past was like. All old agers do is assume sameness, and arrange facts accordingly, to try to fit their belief.

This simple fact totally discredits creation science.

Science had nothing to do with the Creation Week.

The Creation Week consisted of a series of one miracle after another, over a six day period, that raised the level of mass/energy from zero to what it is today.

Is this thread supposed to be going somewhere? 'Cause I'm missing the point.

At least elaborate more than a one liner in support of your premise stated in the thread topic.

I think Perplexed realizes, that if you link the genealogies together into a single timeline; mainly:

Genesis 5 ↔ 1 Chronicles 1 ↔ Matthew 1 ↔ ff

... then you come up with the earth being 6000 years old.

But that's like saying a lightyear is a measure of time, when it isn't.

A lightyear is a measure of distance, not time.
