If saints are dead how can they pray for us?
I'm not trying to start an argument, I just honestly want to know. There are no dead in Christ.
LOL. Not starting an argument, and then argue. Nice.I'm not trying to start an argument, I just honestly want to know.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 the apostle Paul teaches, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first."
If they are dead and will arise how can they now pray for us. I just earnestly want to know.
Is there any "proof" of this, in scripture or the catechism? They are in heaven, they will be united with the resurrected body glorified at the last judgement.

But the is not, actually, what is meant by sleep, friend. It is not a "soul sleep". Rather, Scripturlly, it is a euphamism for the end of physical life, as, from our point of view, it looks as though one has fallen asleep. They (we) will "sleep" as if dead until the resurrection. In the meantime our spirit, our life essence, will be in God's care.
What did Paul say about whether he preferred to live or die? He would be with the Lord either way. He wouldn't be 'dead'. Those alive in Christ are alive, and can pray for us. The Bible speaks of a 'cloud of witnesses' and of the saints making offerings for us. Protestants don't know what to make of this, so they attack us when we ask the saints to pray for us.I'm not trying to start an argument, I just honestly want to know.

he didn't tell the good thief that he would be with him in paradise thousands of years in the future.

The Church is one body. Christ does not have two bodies. Those who die in Christ are still very much in the body of Christ. If saints are dead how can they pray for us?
