If I Evolved From Slime, Why Can't I Remember What I Ate For Breakfast This Morning?

A few facts for you Evos.

1. You claim I evolved from slime.
2. I don't remember what I ate for breakfast this morning.
3. According to Evolution, I should remember what I ate for breakfast, since survival and eating are two different things.

Therefore, I conclude that evolution is the Big Lie.

Thank you.

i went to hear R.Humphries speak on his white hole theory to support YECism from the Bible.

i noticed that this was a constant emotional appeal that really resonated with the audience:
you are human, you are not slime, therefore evolution is impossible. because it says you came from slime.

beyond the reasonableness of carrying on a scientific argument with appeals to strong emotions, the interesting thing is how natural this strawman idea of the TofE is. People seem to have this intuitive idea that mutation and evolution is very personal. Like the incredible hulk mutation, they see evolution in very singular and personal terms.

but populations evolve not individuals.
look back in your family line, somewhere your ancestors ceased being the nationality you are. you go back far enough and they cease being members of a nation state at all, but identify themselves by language or culture. go back further and that language and culture changes.

people don't find it odd that their ancestors didn't speak english and weren't americans. the only thing passing between the generations is a bit of DNA, so what?

Did you get a chance to ask him questions?

no. there was a limited Q&A time. whole lecture plus Q&A was exactly 1 hour.
curiously i felt a bit like i had snuck into a John Birch society meeting as was afraid to say anything lest my thoughts could be read and they realized that i am the enemy.....*grin*
i sat with a friend that is OEC and he couldn't sit still, i was afraid he was going to give us away....

LittleNipper,
I think the logical argument you are going for with this goes:

The universe is made up of contingent actions which require an initial cause. Since there must have been an initial uncaused cause that started it, that Uncaused Cause is God (a la Aquinas)

Since God is non-contingent and is the only being with necessary existence (a la Anselm), then God created something from Nothing.

If you fail to believe this then prepare for this non-contingent being with necessary existence to whoop you and once the whooping begins it is logical to assume that said whooping will continue forever and may, by backwards induction, be assumed to have always been happening. (a la Mohammed Ali).

Quod erat demonstrandum.

The irony being that the demographic of the meeting you attended and a John Birch meeting would be pretty close.

I think we all just got Poe'd.

Split Rock's an Agnostic. Therefore the chances that this is a PARODY is quite high. Or is there something I am missing?

Yup, it's parody. Hence the webcomic post instead of actual argument. :)
