Then that would mean we do not need Jesus as Lord and Saviour, because there was no God who created us - no literal fall, no sin, therefore no need to be redeemed after all death and suffering is the very processes God uses to evolve us - so why believe in a God who promises to deliver us from the very things he uses to create.

And since we are the result of random processes - that would mean we have no purpose other than to be the experiment of some sadistic god who tortures us day in and day out - it is what we see everyday, for it was chance that brought us here and it will be chance that we will return to.

But from what scripture tells us of the nature of God (which goes against everything that evolution teaches) and from genuine faith in God we know that He did create as He has revealed to us as it is plainly written in scripture.

Evolution is nothing more than man's rejection of God's sovereignty over all that He has made to create his own truth apart from that of God's truth.

Okay, so we have two people so far that would loose their faith if God did not creat the universe the way they feel God should have.

I have been asked why I feel that the YEC movement can be a dangerous theology and this is why.

The entire message of Gods love for us is tossed out the window if science is right about anything. They will deny Jesus if thier interpretation is proven wrong rather than admit that they might have made a mistake.

Lewis, your options for the poll are hardly voteable for anyone who disagrees with evolution. Since evolution is not "provable" to be true, why then does every other answer have to do with Christianity, Creation, and the Bible being "lies"? A poll should be something where you can survey a wide field of options from a diverse realm of perspective and opinion other than your own?

How is YEC dangerous when it merely defends scripture and the faith while its 'opposition' argues the Bible to be false in certain areas? If the Bible is not entirely true, I'd say the Christian faith has a major problem. Thankfully, the Bible IS entirely true and we worship and serve a God that has explained within its magnificent text, His very own Divine nature, to include, the origins of the Creation, and the coming close of the ages when He will "make all things new" (Rev 21:15).

I know we are all Christians here, my gosh fellas, this is our LORD we're talking about...as if we can casually assert what He has/hasn't done, what He can/can't do. We should all pray more about our OWN lack of understanding and ask that He use each of us, the gifts He has shown each one of us individually to be about the work of producing fruit that brings Him greater glory.

Buck, no scientific theory is "provable". All are falsifiable, but none can ever be proven.

WHy is the sky blue? asks the age old question. Well scientific thoery is that the sky is blue because of Rayeligh Scattering (http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/atmos/blusky.html). It is well understood, well accepted and has never been falsified. We also use the pysical properties of light in everyday technology nowadays. But it will never be proven with absolute certainty. Same as evolution.

Crusader. Evolutionary theory (as well as Abiogenesis) do not say we are the result of any kind of random process. I have no idea why this random thing gets bandied about so much, because it is simply untrue. Abiogenesis is based on fundamental principles of how chemicals will react under certain condions. Nothing random about that at all. Acids WILL corrode metal, water WILL dissolve salt, reduced compounds WILL be oxydized by chlorine gas, proteins WILL denature with heat. These are not random, they are occur because of predictable and testable ways in which chemicals interact with each other and with energy.

Evolution functions becasue of natural selection, nothing random about that. Why have some of the malva flowers in my garden wilted with the frost already while others of the same species in the same bed still bloom (and they are from the same crop of last year's Malva)? Because some are frost tolerant and some are not. Nothing random there, that is natural selection at work.

The only thing random is when and where mutations occur. Mutations can and do occur. No doubt about that, ask any cancer patient. Some can even be beneficial (like frost tolerance in a frost prone climate).
