Because that would not satisfy the curiosity of the human mind.

Or at least, it would not satisfy the curiosity of those of us who seek to explain reality as it really is. Those who strive to understand the universe in all its elegance are driven by a desire to know what reality is. Not, as far as I am concerned, belief in a god.

Why does there need to be meaning? I just do it for fun. Very few (if ineed any) of my fun things have meaning. tv, ps3, reading...nope, no meaning there.

Also, what does the fundamental meaningless of atheism have to do with evolution? why bring science into it?

For the same reason I do everything else - because it's fun right now. Whether I will ultimately have an impact on the grand order of things (and the signs all point to no) doesn't change a bit the fact that I can enjoy life while it lasts.

Just because you think there's no purpose to anything outside of your own reality bubble doesn't mean the rest of the world agrees.

Personally I'm here because I find religion and debating interesting, and hope to inject a little more rationality into the world. Sure, what I do ultimately won't matter when mankind has ceased to exist some day, but that realization doesn't mean I won't care about the now. I'm living in the now after all, so might as well make the best of it.

Interesting words coming from an OP whose every post has barely said anything, then suffixed it with a smug smiley.

Firstly, this is an open discussion forum - if you want a holy huddle where everyone pats each other on the back about how well they disagree totally with EVILUTION LOL, you'd be better off going to the Christians-only forum. I've said it before, and I'll say it again - this place is one of the best Christian-based boards for discussing this topic anywhere on the web, there's enough variety that you get to see all parts of the origins debate spectrum, and there are some really competent scientists on this board. No point sitting around having your viewpoints go unchallenged, an opinion is only worth something after you've taken it through the fire.

Anyway, as GLaDOS would say, "look at me still talking when there's science to do."
