  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't know that I qualify as youth any longer..hehe..but I would have to say that the term "idol" in those shows is practically ignored. I think it's equated with "star" or "the best"...I don't think teens see it as worshipping someone if they listen to their songs and vote for them to win a talent contest. The word idol is really probably not the most fitting word for the two shows. hope that helps.

Yeah, it seems like it doens't carry the same meaning it used to. However, with the way stars are treated these days, I don't doubt that some kids do worship them. If you told people from the a long time ago that in the future, bards would earn the most money and have the best jobs in the world, they would have laughed at you. Anyway, I don't think the use of the word idol is a problem. It is cool that some regular people get some recognition, some people who can actually sing. ;)

Wow, I never really though about that
Well, I guess since I don't think of them as idols then it doesn't really matter what the show is called. I wonder if there were any christians who got to the final rounds and new this....hmmm

Anyways Clay should have won, his Bridge of Troubled Waters is sweet!
