I have Sephardic friends (and some who live in Israel). They have no battle like you describe. As people live together and inter-relate, somethings cross over the 'boundary'. Some of the Sephardic customs have remained Sephardic, and some have been accepted among other Jewish groups. And vice versa. The Sephardic have accepted other traditions.

I have a friend who is a Mountain Jew. And other Jewish friends from other locations. Again, no problem.

We are all one nation of people. Any of your so called battles are actually family fights, but those happen. Your desire to keep us separated is not really appreciated, as we are one people. As Jewish people, we have differing opinions, and somewhat differing traditions, foods, etc but have much in common also. And like any family, we can fight over things, but if you attack the family, we are very quickly in unity.

I'm not a member of the family by birth or blood but I am by love and adoption, so I'm right there in the midst of those battles against the Jews. What hurts them hurts me, something I never understood in the early years of my walk in mainstream Christianity. Now through Messianic Judaism, not 2-House/Hebrew Roots theology, I understand it more and embrace it.

There are NOT two houses. That is just not scriptural. The two kingdoms fell, neither to be resurrected. There is only one united people now. Sure they are not yet completed, there are many yet to come in (I'm not referring to Christianity). But it is one Kingdom, under one King. That is scriptural.

Well, I don't know what happened to my first reply here. It seems to have just disappeared. Guess I'll try again.

There are not two houses of the land of Israel any longer. They both fell, never to be resurrected again. Instead, there is one house. It's called Israel. It includes members of all tribes of Jacob. Sure, there are many yet to come in, but HaShem knows who and where they are and He'll bring them back in His own time. There is only One Kingdom, under One King.

Thanks for the explanation. It's still strange as I've always posted below other's posts that have had vids and never had a problem before. I was thinking I'd done something really awful on the thread!

Please do not put words in my mouth. (Bearing false witness.) I do not have a desire to keep the whole House of Israel separated. (As is seen in my previous posts here on this thread.) One people, but not yet "echad". One people, as descending from the same father, four different mothers. One people, twelve tribes. Why the hard time admitting the term "Jew" came from the tribe of Judah? Yehudi, Juden, Jude, Yehuda, Judah, Jew... all the same. Why, when someone points this out, is a person called anti-semitic? I don't understand. This is not the spirit behind sorting this out. We would be having this same conversation if history was different and the only recognizable tribe was Ephraim. All those wanting to return to the Land of Israel must be converted Ephraimites. Yeah right.

Excuse my cynicism.

At what point in history were the people of Israel referred to as "Jews". It wasn't at the time of Jacob. It wasn't at the time of Moses. It wasn't at the time of Joshua. Was this term bestowed upon the people by other people? Or was this term bestowed upon the people by the people? I know what the situation is today, in the present time, but what about historically? When did this classification begin?

Love this statement. 'The Jewish people do not controls all 12 tribes and they will not'. But the reality is, the Jewish people are all 12 tribes.

It would be even better if you could read. The subject was Hasmoneans / Pharisees / rabbis, not Jewish people. And the Jewish people are not all tribes any more than all US citizens are Californians or democrats. Jews are one part of a larger people.

The Ethiopian Jews (Notice they are called Jews), were brought to Israel because they are Jewish. There is no forced conversion as they are already Jewish.

The Ethiopian Jews are discriminated against and looked down on by "real" Jews in Israel. Many other tribes in Africa are in the same situation as they were, but most are forced to convert before they are considered to be Jews and able to make aliyah.
Sium, 32, has lived in Israel most of his life, but says he and other Ethiopian Jews are treated differently from other Israelis: factories do not want to employ them; landlords refuse them; and certain schools turn away their children.

"The word discrimination doesn’t describe what we experience. There is another word for it: racism. It is a shame that we still have to use this word today,” he told IRIN.

Ok, during the divided Kingdom, some of all 12 tribes lived in the land called Judea. Judea, because the largest tribe residing there was Judah, like the largest tribe in the Northern Kingdom was Ephraim. After the capture of the Northern Kingdom by Assyria, some of the people escaped to Judea. When Babylon capture Judea, and carried off the children of Israel (all tribes) living in Judea, the Babylonians called the people, Jews, for Judea.

Since that time, the children of Israel have called themselves Jews as evidenced first in the book of Esther, which takes place during the captivity.

So, the term Jew refers to all 12 tribes. And has from the beginning of the use of the term. Later, Babylon defeated Assyria, so all 12 tribes were subject to Babylon and called Jews.

Actually, they were called Yehudim for Yehuda. 'Jew' is a much later term.

Facts:
The Bible says that the northern tribes have not returned.
History says that the northern tribes have not returned.
The talmud says that the northern tribes have not returned.
The belief in the continued existence of the ten tribes was regarded as an incontrovertible fact during the whole period of the Second Temple and of the Talmud.

So, it was Babylon who lumped everyone together. That's nice. We should definitely follow their example. :o

Since the books of the Torah keep the identities of all 12 tribes separate, while at the same time referring to them as the House of Israel, this is how I see it...

If all things shall be restored, why would the 12 tribes be any different? Can some of us be allowed to look forward to this type of restoration without condemnation?

This is why I say "Remember Yosef", because his descendants are not recognized today, just as he was forgotten after he was sent into captivity by his brothers, and just as he was forgotten by the world (unknown to Pharaoh) after his death.

I do not believe anyone should call themselves Ephraim, except those who are descended from Ephraim. I also believe that if one identifies with a tribe and wishes to be a part of their customs/culture/family, then they can request to be grafted in to that branch. It is only when they are accepted that they may call themselves by that name. This would apply to Judah, as well as any others among the 12 tribes.

Please do not automatically assume someone is talking 2 House just because the mention of "Ephraim" is made. That's ridiculous.

If you are not Jewish, what does "us" refer to?
