Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Correction: The bill was passed in 2005, and mandated that all IDs conform to the newly-legislated standards by May 2008. Because of a backlash among several states, this has now been pushed back to December 2009. It's all in the Wikipedia article you mentioned and read through a little too quickly.

And you don't have to be a conspiracy theorist to wonder if an ID card continuously broadcasting your personal information might lead to identity theft. I'm not talking about the Illuminati, Bjorne, or Revelations here, just people applying for credit cards in your name, maxing them out, and messing up your credit so badly that life becomes pretty rough.

I hope, but I'm not sure Congress understands technology enough to refrain from well-intentioned meddling. Look at one of the unintentional consequences of the DMCA -- people use baseless claims of copyright infringement to get bad PR taken down, and the burden of proof is on the accusee, not accuser.

I am not talking about theories, seems like every time you mention conspiracy it is labeled a theory this is not always true much of the conspiracy that is going on can be backed up by solid facts. Those who are against believing the truth that is presented will misrepresent their own sources such as we see in how the wiki article was done in this thread.
