Ideal Mate

Though some people rarely like to admit it, we as humans have 'a type'; we subconsiously choose one trait over another. Aside from being a believer what other characteristics do you look for in a potential mate? I myself have given up looking, because I know that if I am 'meant' to be with someone then the Lord will give me exactly what I need. However here are some characteristics I find desirable:

• Artistic
• Musically inclined
• Humerous
• Cooks
• Taller than me [5'4 +]
• Verbally speaks to God on a daily basis
• Wants 1 child
• Understands that God is the head of our relationship

I've gone thru 'types' like Madonna has gone thru hairstyles. Unlike her tho, I'm always pleasantly surprised by new ones. God will provide.

actually you will find as you grow up the things you are attracted to right now may not attract you later on.

I know last year before i left for college my ideal mate would of been (in order)

1: Beautiful
2: Christian
3: shorter than me (5'8)
4: wants children
5: willing to work or take care of the children.
6: (option but greatly sought after) well off parents or self.

now it is

1: Christian
2: like minded in our devotion to God
anything else is a perk

There are other things, but those are the most important, aside from her faith in Christ. Everything else could change, depending on who she is.

IMO those two things constitute real beauty.

I'm pretty open when it comes to choosing a partner - when I was younger I found myself far more restrictive than I am now - and for all the wrong reasons!

Even though I'm not looking anymore, these are things I always looked for (no order of importance, just listing as I think)...

1) Willingness to talk things out when we have an 'issue'
2) Has cut the apron strings from parents/ex partners/family
3) Lives out of home
4) Financially stable, mature and independant (ie doesn't have to ask for 'loans' to get by)
5) Christian
6) Values the sanctity of sexual intimacy, and understands the effects, both negative and positive, introducing sex has on a relationship
7) Respects my family and friends
8) Regularly interacts with a Christian network of some sort
9) Belief structure/values similar to mine
10) Forgiving and understanding

That's about it. The most important thing on that list, bar Christian (that's a given) would be ability to communicate well. Sometimes that takes hard work, but if they're willing to do it, then you can work most things out.

- gentle yet strong willed

- is tradition & happy to let me do all the housework
- will wait until marriage for a sexual relationship (I was used for sex by the one guy I ever slept with - next time I want it to be for keeps!)
- someone who likes my funky & unusual ways

I guess I coud keep going, but I think I'll stop now. Some traits are similar and if you have one you will most likely have the other. I know the perfect guy is out there, and I'm just waiting for God to introduce him to me.
