Icon corner?

Hmm, that is interesting. I have lots of paper icons laying around. How does one go about laminating and mounting icons? Is it something I could do at home?

I have a heat laminator and I then mount them to a wood panel using spray mount.

I have a stack of old Orthodox calendars and so any icons I want I laminate and mount myself. I also laminate and mount my own icons and will have my own icon site up and running in about a months time.

I am in the process of building it with a friend of mine. When we launch it the site will not be fully built. We plan to slowly add things to the site to make it manageable and to make it interesting to people so they come back multiple times. The site will have a blog of thoughts or articles I have collected and written on iconography, my icons for sale in both print form and handwritten originals form, my essays on iconography, will make greeting cards of my various icons available and will have a few other interesting things as well.

I don't have an icon corner, except for a couple of pocket-sized icons in one of my drawers (which I haven't even used). I............am not worthy...

I am also going to have the FAQ that I talked about doing on here 3 years ago on my site. That should be fun. But again, it will slowly be added so as to not overwhelm visitors the first time they see the site.

I doubt they'd mind. Nobody living at my house at the moment actually goes to the CoC except me. My Mum used to, but was excommunicated. She's not really a practicing Christian anymore. I'm perhaps thinking that maybe I could lead her to Orthodoxy one day.

I also figure, it's time to start getting into a more Orthodox lifestyle, and a small icon corner is a very good place to start, I reckon. I have two small icons. I'm quite lucky. One of them is of St. Anastasia, and the other has Christ, and Apostles at his side, pulling up Adam and Eve from the bottom of the picture. I'm lucky. In one icon, I have one icon which features many saints, as well as Christ! I know they're Orthodox because they were given to me by my local parish.

I also need to visit my parish again -- it's been the longest time, and they're probably wondering what's happened to me.

I feel like I'm being a cafeteria Orthodox inquirer and it's time to turn it around I think.

I have a "corner" but no real icons. All I have is a Church bulletin with an icon of the Resurection printed on the front. I don't have the cash right now for a new transmission so I can make the 30 min drive to Church... icons will have to wait.

I have a little antique end table that I have used for prayer for a while. It was on an eastern wall in my bedroom, but my husband persisted in using it as a catch all for whatever he had in his pockets when he went to bed.

A few weeks ago I cleaned out the coat closet that is in a little alcove off the hallway and decided to put it in there. I took the door off and it is on an eastern wall, so I guess it works. It is more like a grotto now than a corner, but it keeps people from dumping their misc. crap on it.

That's very nice! I have a few printed icons, myself. What do you hang them with? I'm always worried I'll tear something if I use a nail or tack, ect...

A question - if you print out an icon are you supposed to go and have that blessed as well?

My priest has blessed the paper icons I've printed out. I don't know if the practice is different with Orthodox Christians.

I use.....Blu-Tack! Doesn't damage the icons or the walls! I wouldn't feel comfortable sticking pins in them -- like voodoo dolls
