I hope your find Jesus more than a good person, NaAs, I truly hope so!
Because When you do, you will be a much happier fullfilled person.
But you cannot fool God with your fun little acts, and cute comments.

If you think you are searching, but really ignoring truth....you will go nowhere fast.
God does not force Himself on anyone, but if you are truly seeking as you say you are, then......He may show Himself to you, He knows your intentions, He knows your heart.

I pray you learn what seeking Him really means!

I'm so glad to hear you are not giving up on your search. I understand that you are a man of science, but God is not, God is a god of love and mercy and faith. I understand reading the bible is very important, however, I too find it confusing from time to time. I don't get some of the wording or symbolism in it. So I find that I understand it alot more in church service. The pastor is there telling you what is being said and what it means. Why don't you go to church to help you understand christians better.

I'll be praying for you! Good luck on your search...I hope that when it's over it's Jesus that you've found, because unlike every other so called "gods" or idols, He has been there, is there and will always be there for you. It is us that stray from Him, not Him away from us. You can take science for whatever it is but it is our God, our Heavenly Father who is that Almighty Creator. I hope and pray that it is Jesus that you will seek! Good luck and God Bless always!

I believe God has put a desire in your heart to find Him. Please never stop looking and He will never stop holding his arms out to you. the very fact that this forum exists and is providing help to you (and many others) is proof that He cares. If you have already given your life to Christ why do you think you are not a Christian now?
Rom 10:9
Because, if you say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and have faith in your heart that God has made him come back from the dead, you will have salvation:

keep searching, and feel free to pm me if you think i can help.

Hi

It is possible to reconcile science, and it is possible to be a man of science and a man of God.

I have a professor who was a physicist for many years, and I believe that during that time is when he became a Christian. Just because you believe in science does not believe that you should not believe in God or vice versa.

Here are a couple of websites for you to check out:
http://homepages.tcp.co.uk/~carling/main_sci.html

http://www.stalbans.org.nz/teachings/chris_downs/science-index.htm

http://www.forerunner.com/mandate/X0075_Can_Scientists_Be_Ch.html

Also, have you heard of the book Men of Science, Men of God by Henry M. Morris, I've heard that it's a good book.

God bless,

In your search make sure to check out the Holy Spirit won't you!!

I promise you won't come away without having being changed by your encounter!!

He is the third person of God.. the one who comes to us in this world as we know it.. and shows us what the world doesn't know about Jesus Christ.. He proves to us in ways we cannot deny that Christ is still living and demonstrates to us through His presence God is with us!!

He would help you to believe in Your heart what God is all about.. perhaps because you have never met Him that is why you cannot believe.. or find reason to believe..

You see we can deny God when we see the way the world is.. people are.. His people act... and we can deny Christ came... especially if we aren't sure he was Gods son.. but it is hard to deny the Holy Spirit once you know about Him and see Him at work...

For He is at work on this world.. changing lives.. doing miracles.. teaching truths.. For His work is in the inner man.. and He speaks to people.. changes them from the inside... moves people to do the most amazing things and comforts people!!

Now Jesus Christ Himself promised this spirit would come to those who sought after Him.. this comforter.. and I guess if the Holy Spirit was truth and working and we found Him on earth in people's lives.. well that would prove something about the whole God thing wouldn't it!!

But don't just take my word, I have highlighted some special promises to the world here..

Let me pray for you okay first before you read.. For if this is truth as I believe it is.. the truth should set you free!!

Dear God, I pray for NaAsThIk... Help him to understand that You are real.. I pray he has an encouter with the Holy Spirit.. I pray these truths awaken a new hope in his heart.. I pray that his search leads him to the whole truth and nothing but the truth!! I pray he is filled to overflowing with all the good things of You so that He is changed from the inside out.. Given joy, peace, love and a powerful presence of God upon him... For You have come to give Him life and eternal life and an abundant life.... I pray NaAsThIk knows You as you really are and his heart is forever changed and You come and abide in Him and live with Him.. amen and amen

... Jesus said below in John 14...

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit

15“If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever– 17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be[c] in you. 18I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him

Oh, really...
Matthew 10:34-36, NIV
34“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35For I have come to turn “ ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughterinlaw against her motherinlaw–
36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.’

Matthew 10 is refering to the persecution that many believers will undergo because of their belief in Christ. This indeed did come true, as early as the persecution of the believers in Rome under Nero, and even to today with the severe persecution that some believers undergo in other countries.

Christ came as the Messiah to bring peace, but real peace will not come until the Second Coming.
Almost like His initial coming was not for physical peace or world peace, but for "spiritual peace", for the forgiveness of sins. As long as there is sin in the world there cannot be real widespread peace.

God invented Science, so I'm sure He's not threatened by it. The study of science involves continual uncertainty amid the facts. The same goes for the study of God.

No one should in their right mind make a sudden decision to believe all the doctrines of Christianity or any religion before they make sense of it. That kind of thinking leads people into suicide and militant cults. God says "reason with me" and "meditate on the scriptures."

Knowing God is gradual. Knowing His ways is gradual. Salvation, on the other hand is a momentary decision. When the criminal on the cross next to Jesus asked Jesus to remember him in His kingdom, Jesus told him "Today you will be with me in paradise." -Luke 23.

The man's realization that Jesus was God had developed over time, but Jesus' acceptance of him into the kingdom was immediate.

I was an atheist for a long while. I was a practicing Buddhist for a short time. Basically, nothing has worked like Christianity. I FEEL that it is real. If you're struggling may i recommend reading "The case for Christ" "The case for faith" or "The case for a Creator" by Lee Strobel? Those books are quite eye opening, but be warned that the Case for a Creator is very heavy reading. Anyways, I hope you come to the conclusion that I came to as well.

You bring up an interesting subject, or reminded me of it; but I have more questions than answers.

Is our salvation truely an incident, occuring once and at a specific point in time? What is it that initiates that incident? Your statement is that "The man's realization that Jesus was God had developed over time, but Jesus' acceptance of him into the kingdom was immediate." In addition you said that "Salvation, on the other hand is a momentary decision."

Again, what is it that triggers the incident that we call Salvation?
Is it that we reach a specific level of belief in God and Christ?
Is there a physical action that must be taken?
Where is the line really drawn?

So I am way out of place on this forum. Came here because of the Tool April Fool's Joke. I'm really sick right now, flu and can't sleep. I am reading through these posts and wonder to myself, "Is there any question as to why people go away from Christianity"? I have never seen so many judgemental posts. Maybe this person is reaching out and saying they love Jesus but don't understand why if this person decides not to affiliate themselves with a religion that someone tells them they are not a believer. This person never said they reject his teachings or spit in his face or that they didn't need him. Maybe the original post needs guidance not someone telling them what they are doing wrong. I'll be honest, I'm not a Christian but I do know and respect Jesus. I've read the Bible, the Enlightenment's of Buddhism, believe it or not the Satanic Verses, the Quo'ran of Muslims and have studied Wicca/Paganism but I would expect that anyone that is on a forum about any of these religions/philosophies to be non-judgemental. Just my opinion but I have seen tons and tons of posts just like this one on this forum and have trouble believing that people will want to be a Christian when they read the rude, almost demanding posts like this one. Oh well, sorry just my opinion.

Good point.

It is hard to be loving and non-judgemental at all times, but it is worth the effort.

I ask you for forgiveness if anyone here has hurt your feelings. It has surely not been anyones intentions and yet it happens, doesn't it?
It is easy to go 'overboard' when you are zealous about something.

May I just ask you a few questions?

When you say that you have read a few scientific magazines..did they completely write off everything divine?

Have you ever heard of a Muslim being healed or raised from the dead?

Any drug addicts being completely free from drug addictions by becoming Buddhist?

Ever wonder over the amazing fact that EVERY snow flake is perfectly unqiue?

Every wonder over the amazing fact that every human has it's own finger print and eye print?
Ever wondered over the amazing fact that every planet is perfectly placed?

Too much 'perfect' stuff in the creatures, human body etc. must mean that it can't be by chance. A perfect God must have been around. Someone that is sooo perfect that He has ALL the confidence that everything will go well if he sends an old man with a stick and a stutter (Moses) to the most occult country in the world (Egypt) to set a people group free.
That's why He could send Daivid to fight Goliath with only a couple of stones and a slingshot.
See, my God is PERFECT and that's why he can use people that are so incapable like me to pray for others to be healed because He wants to be part of that prayer and He will impart the healing through me.
That means he doesn't need us to perfect (Which is impossible anyway) -only willing to allow Him to be part of our lives -run our lives.

True Christianity is the only faith where you don't have to 'become better' to gain favour with God. All you need to do is come how you are with a sincere heart and this PERFECT God will take care of the rest.

Are you willing to come as you are?

responding to CtC,

That's not up to me to decide! So it's a great question. When I dedicated my life to God at a crusade, I had already been deeply involved in Christianity for over a year. I can't quite say when I started believing, but remember some people who got me thinking.

I also started with wrong motives...it seemed innovative and cool at the time (when could that have been???!) and I was fascinated by the supernatural aspects.

Later, I was embarrassed that these drew me...but there's a verse where Jesus admonishes people for only believing in him because he fed them, not because of the miracles. (To which we would add, they shouldn't believe just because of the miracles...)

Keep loving Jesus! Try reading John in the Bible. Acts is really good too, it tells about miracles Jesus worked. Do you know of the Holy Spirit? Ask Jesus to have the Holy Spirit come into your heart. Give it time and see what happens. May the Peace of Christ be with you now and forever.

Please don't go away. Just keep praying and build your own personal relationship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Try reading out of the New Testament and just talk to God about anything and everything. He is there and will here you. He will perform miracles for you if you just let him. Please dont go away and dont be offended. Thanks....

Naasthik--- wow.. I have prayed for you... for the Lord to help you. Your view does not make sense, but maybe I am just ignorant. I think that Jesus is not just some fun luving guy who ran around passing out beer coupons and daisies... Your perspective on him and our God is somewhat muffled, and very misconceived... I'm sorry you have not yet been guided to the proper understanding... I in turn will pray for you, in hopes that maybe some day that will happen.

On a different note-- I do understand what you are trying to say.... But my christian side has come out in the end... I once had your thinking.. not long ago..

God speed my friend,

It is , of course, your choice to refuse the gift of eternal life that God is offering you, through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. A gift can often be harder to accept than something you have to work for. When you give your life to the Lord, He is there with you to guide you, support you, love you. There are only benefits to salvation. There is no down side. I have experienced so much through Him that I often find it hard to believe myself. When you truly give your life to Him and worship him and keep yourself free from sin, He will bless you in ways you have never experienced before. Praise His Holy Name!!! :prayer:
