  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've been reflecting on the individuals that God has provided to the Church: pastors, evangelists, prophets, and teachers. He bestowed Billy Graham to evangelize the world, John XXIII to shepherd a billion of His flock, artists like Bob Dylan to deliver prophetic messages, and leaders like Mahatma Gandhi to demonstrate that non-violent resistance can dismantle the works of malevolent forces. While some may contest the inclusion of non-Christians, consider the figures God provided to Israel, such as Cyrus the Persian, who facilitated the return of God's people to their homeland, and Caiaphas, the high priest whose prophecy highlighted the necessity of Jesus Christ's sacrifice for the salvation of many. It is our responsibility and vocation to embrace every benevolent gift God bestows upon the Church in this world and to utilize it for our improvement and the betterment of those around us.

Don't confuse the message with the messenger.

God used Balaam's donkey to deliver a message.

Cyrus, Caiaphas, Mahatma Gandhi, and Bob Dylin are men made in God's image.

This Soviet naval officer may have saved the world from thermonuclear war during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

His wife testified that "Arkhipov was known to be a shy and humble man. In a 2012, PBS documentary entitled The Man Who Saved the World,[23] his wife, Olga, described him as intelligent, polite, and very calm."

I wonder how God treated this officially atheist naval officer when he died?
