Sure go ahead Vanessa. Its nice that you want to ask us all the time of things you want to do to be like Jesus, but if you're well and truly saved you don't HAVE to do those things in order to go to heaven. Remember Jesus takes us there if we already believe in Him first..because our names are written in the book of life. He is not going to blot you out if you don't. But if you want to please him and be closer to him by doing things like giving up secular tv and fashion then thats ok, go for it.

Is the holy spirit nudging you to change your behaviour? How long have you been a christian? Is it that you feel like God is telling you to do something, and if you don't do it straightaway you feel bad and anxious that you won't go to heaven because of the things you don't do? I think God gives us a whole lifetime to transform us..at this stage in your journey concentrate on one thing at a time, He doesn't expect us to do everything at once. :)

I don't want to miss the opportunity to go to heaven. I just thought that maybe God would take me to heaven if I dress like he use to. It's just a thought that got in my head. God looks at the heart, correct? Plus I don't know the difference when God is telling you or it's just me thinking things! Anybody here knows how to know when God wants you to change yourself?

Scripture doesn't say that wearing a tunic has any value in getting you to Heaven. If you think God is telling you that you should so you can get to Heaven, then you're not hearing God.

Well a good way to check if what you are thinking lines up with what God says is to check with what He says in the Bible. So you need to be reading it regularly, and if you're giving up tv you can spend that time you would have spent watching tv reading the Bible and learning from God.

Why on earth would you think this? There isn't a single place in Scripture that even hints that what you wear will provoke God to take you to heaven. This sounds rather trollish...

It's just a thought that got in my head.

So? Ignore it. Not every thought that passes through your mind is worth pondering. Some you should discard immediately - like this business about wearing a tunic.

God looks at the heart, correct?

Exactly. So, why are you fussing over what you wear?

1Sa 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

Plus I don't know the difference when God is telling you or it's just me thinking things!

This is why it is unwise to follow voices in your head, or strong impressions. Simply do what God tells you to do in His Word. Apply the principles, wisdom and truth of the Bible to your life and you will know clearly what God wants you to do and how to do it.

Anybody here knows how to know when God wants you to change yourself?

Read your Bible. It's God's Word to you.

Selah.

I think that I should dress like old times, but I love fashion! Maybe if I dress with tunics like in Jesus time ill go to heaven, but I know people are going to be staring at me, but if its going to take me to heaven then that's what I shall do, right? I kind of have anxiety about this trasition.

* Jesus is the only way of salvation because He is the only One who can
pay our sin penalty--Romans 6:23.

Nothing wrong with dressing modestly but it's not what
saves you. Dressing modestly, helping your neighbor,
sharing the good news of the gospel etc. are to be
"reflections" of a person who's a Christ-follower.

I'm with znr. I don't think you're anywhere near being serious either.

Dress like old times? It's one thing to dress modestly and conservatively. It's quite another to make yourself stand out while doing it, as it sort of defeats the purpose. This sounds more like wearing a costume than anything. Why don't you find modern clothing that fits the bill?

It is good to ask questions. You are trying to please the Lord. Jesus wore what the people wore in those times. If He had come in our day He would have worn the clothing a man wears today. Pants, shirt. We need to accept Jesus into our lives, and follow Him. God bless. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved....
