• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want everyone to wake up like i did.

Don't get defensive. I've been in your shoes a couple years ago. We've been dumbed down by religion. Life is supposed to be a personal thing...get rid of everything man-made and things will start to get clearer. If i had my way i would meet with members under a tree every sunday and our donations would go directly to the needy. when you give a church donations its mostly to pay their utlities and stuff like that...and maybe some of the leftover money will be used for cheap things like a spaghetti supper. Just do your own research....find out who wrote the bible...and why...i cant explain it all here.
I just want everyone to see things as they are instead of blind faith. They can't prove any of it so you have to conveniently wait till your dead to get the benefits. The bible's stories are found thousands of years before it was written in 15 other religions/texts...read about mithra, osiris, etc...there are so many with the exact same story of virgin birth, 12 followers, resurrected after 3 days, etc, etc, etc.
The whole bible thing doesnt make sense because different parts of the world have different books to follow. And i know for sure that someone born in china where your religion isn't so prevelant doesn't have a more uphill battle than you do. It's common sense and it's not fair. And the people who lived before Jesus aren't screwed or neither do they have any more advantage than jesus followers do because they get a free pass. You will be judged by your heart. Church is not the free pass to heaven you think it is. They don't want you to know this...don't eat from the tree of knowledge (eden)...just have faith.

There's tons of way to prove this but i'll leave you with just one. Anyone who says this is coincidence needs a new brain...its like hitting the lottery to make this next part make sense as coincidence. Everything is astrology so every time you read Son (Jesus) in the bible put in Sun (Light of the World, etc.) and it will become clearer. Everyone in science knows about the precession of the equinoxes? we are entering into Aquarius and right now we are into Pisces...here's a couple tidbits from the bible to munch on:

Behold, he comes with clouds and every eye shall see him.
(Rev. 1:7) The Son (sun) is the light of the world and is seen by everyone

The story of Jonah (Semetic for "sun") is about a man who is swallowed by a whale (death) and remains in it's belly for three days at which time the man is freed (resurrection). This story is another symbolic of the astrological account of how the sun remains still for three days during the winter equinox. It is also symbolic of the resurrection of Christ. The sun reaches its lowest point around Dec. 22 and begins the rise again on Dec. 25th. Every astronomer knows this.

When Moses came down from the mountain, he saw the people worshipping a golden calf (Taurus). This idol came from the Egyptians astrological worship of the sun. Golden represents the color of the sun. The calf (Taurus the bull) represents the age in which the Moses lived when he wrote the Torah.
When history moved into the next sign (Aries the ram), the Hebrews celebrated the approach of their Messiah by blowing rams horns. The sign of Aries influenced many religions to adopt the lamb of God concept.

The next age after Taurus and Aries is Pisces. This is why Jesus shared 2 fish to feed everyone. Aquarius' symbol is 2 fish. That's also why you see alot of Jesus bumper stickers with a fish.

When the Apostles ask Jesus what should they do in his absence...
Mark 14:13
"Go into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him". This is the upcoming age of Aquarius. The symbol for it is a man bearing a water pitcher. Everyone knows at that time in history only women carried pitchers of water.

There's thousands of these kinds of things in the bible.
Every year, on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox, a celebration was made (Easter).

2012 is supposed to be an age of awakening.....i pray that everyone starts to think things out for themselves...it's a personal journey. Whatever reaction i get i expect it because that's the reaction i had 2 years ago. But it planted a seed and i started to research and think alot. I'm not doing this to flame but to help people think for themselves.

Kinda like "Who discovered America?"
Most will say Christopher Columbus but how can you discover something that has native americans living there already? But people repeat it like parrots. I pray for everyone's awakening and release from all the man-made cults. No matter what you think don't judge me because i wrote all this to help and not vent.

P.S. More people report seeing U.F.O.'s than sightings of god and jesus but their absence is easily explained by "it's not the right time right now, wait for the rapture". They will easily make you think you have to wait for everything. Your life was supposed to be work at walmart, go home and watch desperate housewives, go to church on sunday and get a free ticket to heaven? Take away everything man-made and all we are left with is ourselves, the stars, and nature. That is all you need my friend...the rest is a technology blur.

First of all please don't judge me. It's in most holy books. Practice what you preach.

Sounds like your saying something to make the back of your mind at ease. I didn't put this stuff in the bible...it was already there and it matches astronomy and astrology and previous religions. It is what it is...if you can't see it then your beyond help.

Yes please note the username and read about him...it's the exact same story as jesus..down to the last detail. Don't throw this fact aside...it's well documented. (Oh and it happened a couple thousands years before jesus). Go figure. It's the same story rehashed for thousands of years...they just change the name and everyone falls for it hook, line and sinker. This tactic worked well when people were isolated. But now with the internet and research it's easy to see what has been done. It's just some people's mind's will never change...your in too deep probably.

P.S. You were born with everything you need. If everyone was supposed to have a bible we would be born with one. Use common sense. Get rid of the mad-made part of things that has corrupted everything. Constantine is the one who commisioned the bible to be written at the council of nicea hundreds of years after jesus.

osiris774 you must have lost your way. This forum is for believers and those who seek to find the truth not to distort them with worldly things. No matter what you want to prove; if it does not come from God through His Holy Spirit it is only worldly thoughts and can not be used to grow in faith in God.

I feel for you all then. It is probably too late. Once your really really brainwashed forever will you stay there. What you call the Holy spirit other religions call something else and there's a whole new set of rules. If you all did pick the right religion thank your parents for having you in the correct region of the world.

Like i said I'm here just stating that i feel so awake and alive and my god is stronger than yours. I don't want to convince, recruit, ask for money and have an answer for everything like most religions out there. Life is awesome but very mysterious so anytime someone has an answer for everything be weary because we aren't supposed to know everything.

I wasnt going to post but here I am. lol. I feel for you man, those are some great points you bring up. Give me the story of the wizard of oz, a pencil and a star map and I will show you the story written in the stars. That does not mean it credits or discredits the story.

You have to ask yourself where did all these pagan religions come up with these similar ideas? You say the bible is about these religions, I say these pagans are taking from the bible. Years of telling this story around a campfire would spin off a few religions alone. The story of Cain and Abel is written on egyptian pyramid walls yet only the names are different, but similar stories. I wonder where the egyptians got that from? Maybe from the Hebrews who lived there before the exodus

You have to also ask yourself how hundreds prophecies in the bible have come true.

Im sorry you have lost your faith or if you havent found it. I could sit here and discredit your discredits all day long and that wouldnt change anything. Its the leap of faith that will start your walk in the lord.

And common man, everyone knows 2012 is just the end of the calendar for the myans.

Stuff like all those ages (Taurus, Aries, Pisces, Aquarius) in the bible matching the correct precession of the equinoxes is too right on for it to be making something out of nothing. You can't do that with the Wizard of Oz. I know things can be bent but i believe the facts i brought up are too convincing for any semi-educated person with an open mind.

See the thing people keep implying is that i've lost my way. I sifted through the man-made things and i believe i'm on the right path. Me losing my way is just something cliche that people say but little do they know that things are clearer for me and i believe in god...even more so than most. And yes i agree all those stories are the same...but i'm gonna have to give more credit to the original ones and not the bible.
Most people pick and choose what to follow in the bible because there's alot of crazy stuff in there. Here's some things your pastor wont read to you.

Things demeaning to women:

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." Corinthians 14:34-35

And i don't know anyone that feeds their family and practically gives what extra they have to the needy:

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Mathew 19:24

When i was nearing my church career i told my pastor and a few other congregation members that i had a plan to help others more efficiently. I told him we should not have a church building but just meet in an outdoor spot every sunday and whatever donations we get can go straight to the poor instead of most of it paying electricity bills, and other bills that can be avoided. Words can't describe the look i got from them. They thought i was crazy but i just suggested something i think jesus would have done. That's basically when it kinda hit me...its kinda like a corporation and there's no way they would do anything like that. They rather pay all their utility bills and throw an occasional spaghetti supper for the local football team.

Keep in mind life is a journey. I can learn new things...gain new insights and adapt but religion is doing a very good job of keeping you exactly the way they want you to be because they put so much fear into you thinking anything else. You have to conveniently wait till the day you die to reap any benefits supposedly so i hope your on the right path.

Good luck to all...and I am not lost...you have no idea. I feel free, loving, and not programmed.

P.S. I don't know of any prophecies in the bible that have come true. Maybe you can shed some light on some. And if my theory is correct, the powerful elite who are hoarding all knowledge (i.e. Secret Societies) can create things to fit the prophecies to further pound these religions into people's head.

We will always be at war....it's a big money maker...banks sometimes finance both sides...then finance the rebuilding. This is a game that keeps getting played but most don't know. We picked a war on "terror" for obvious reasons to sustain this cause.

im not trying to convince myself and there's no way your inside my head...your trying to persuade yourself maybe because i'm not the one in too deep.

I'm not the one going to the forums of other religions and desperately trying to convince them of the veracity of my beliefs. That seems to indicate a profound degree of cognitive dissonance.

I have no man-made allegiances.

I rather doubt that. I bet you have a citizenship, a driver's license, social security (or its equivalent) all of which involve submission to a governing authority.

I know where your at man. I kind of think we think alike. Its hard to know all the answers but I will shed some light on a couple things. I was recently saved this spring, and I too went back and forth and searched to the far ends of the internet about why I should believe and why I shouldnt believe.

The changing point was faith and knowledge. Read the bible, it has all the answers man. Despite what you can find on the internet the bible does NOT contradict itself ever. The only book in history with 66 chapters written over 4000 years by 40 different people that does not contradict itself. The odds of that happening are zero.

The fact that you can find thousands of contradictions on any given website is this, THE LETTER KILLS BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE (2 CORINTHIANS 3:6). You have to take the bible in context and read it in the mind of Christ. Ive taken theology courses that blows away all those contradictions. Look up Elmer Towns. If you have contradiction questions hes a great guy to learn from.

"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law"

This statement sums up what I said. THE LETTER KILLS BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES LIFE. Pull out any lines out of context and not read in the spirit and you get misunderstandings.

Here is what the above means. This applies to women not yet led by the Sprit, and still under the law (the old law that Jesus fulfilled, dont you think you dont want those still tied to the old law to speak in the church?): But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Gal 5:18. Women in the church led by the Spirit of God were expected to prophesy, (for edification, and exhortation, and comfort. 1 Cor 14:3), proven by Paul requiring them to keep their heads covered when prophesying or praying, 1 Cor 11:13, and proven by Acts: 'And it shall come to pass in the last days, said God, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all men; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.]

"And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." Corinthians 14:34-35"

Paul is speaking about newly initiated women, not under control of the Spirit. A mature woman in Christ needs not to ask her husband anything to learn: But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. But the anointing that you have received from him abides in you, and you do not need any man to teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you all things and is truth, and is no lie; and even as it has taught you, abide in him. 1 John 2:20,27]

Men are supposed to give in to their wives and wives to their husbands.

Man, believe me I think you have it right about giving and not having all the overhead of the churches. Thats one thing that bugs me about my church. The fact that we are constantly building bigger, putting on million dollar additions buying a 70k piano... .ect. When that money can be used to help the poor. In the book of revelations Jesus is unhappy with 5 of the 7 churches and tells them to REPENT. I do all my reading at home and go to church just when I feel like hitting a worship service. Its a good church to meet great people though. If I had a church I would do it like you said. No overhead, giving all to the poor.

You cant expect man with a carnal mind to do everything perfect, well you can, thats called heaven..which we are all trying to get there. And since we are not there then dont expect perfection.

Hope this helps. Like I said man, I can go on and on and you can pull line by line out of the bible and say thats debunked. You need to read it in the spirit to understand its meanings. There are over 30,000 secs of Christianity because each sec interprets things differently, Christ wants us to become one body. To do this we all have to read the bible in spirit, not by the letter.

PS: On prophecies just google it bud. I could list them but its all over the net.

Just try to stay away from the debunking stuff, it was meant to be debunked by unbelievers. "Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces." Mathew 7:6

I dont have all the answers but I can try and tell you what I know by reading the bible.

im not trying to convince myself and there's no way your inside my head...your trying to persuade yourself maybe because i'm not the one in too deep. I have no man-made allegiances.

I opened a checking account.
I signed a contract with my company.
I got married.
I bought a house.
I made a commitment to raise my kids with integrity.
I have so many man-made allegiances that I have lost count of them.

And, you know what?
I sleep well.

Sit under your tree,
give all your money to the poor,
and also sleep well.

I believe Romans 14, so I'm not going to say anything negative, but I'm also going to ask for mutual respect.

"Therefore do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil" (Rom. 14:16).

I suggest you meditate on the entire chapter. You'll find a bit of correction in it, I hope. I know I did.

God bless.

Some wake up through normal progression of being led and loved throughout life. However, most seek God only when all else has failed and they can not handle life without God. Look into your heart and seek the peace that passeth understanding and you will ask God to give it to you.

## Catholic theology has been aware of these & related problems for centuries. It has solutions. Maybe you should read Catholic teaching on the matter, before dismissing Christian belief in this way. Not everyone is a Bible-thumping Fundamentalist - the vast majority of Christians, who are not found in the US alone BTW, are not Fundamentalist.
You will be judged by your heart. Church is not the free pass to heaven you think it is.
## Nor do Catholics think it is. We know that God requires more than mere words from us.

As for Osiris & Co, these similarities are not exactly the same:

 • Osiris dies, but he is brought back to life in order to beget Horus to be his avenger against Osiris' brother & murderer the god Set; after which Osiris goes back to being Ruler of the netherworld - perhaps you could show us where Jesus has a son to avenge him against his brother, & then goes back to being dead.
 • Where is the crucifixion of Mithra ?
 • Where in Christianity is the bull which Mithra kills ?
 • Where is the virgin mother of Mithra ?
These so-called similarities exist only if one

 • ignores a lot of details
 • treats one religion as no different from another
 • assumes that seemingly similar details in different religions have the same meaning
 • tortures words to make them related in some way even when they are not
The sort of people you are relying on clearly do not the know the first thing about ancient religion and culture.

The story of Jonah (Semetic for "sun")
## If you mean Hebrew, Yonah = Heb. for "dove". Semitic languages are a class of languages - there is no one language called Semitic. The Heb. for sun = shemesh.
is about a man who is swallowed by a whale (death)
## "dag gadol" in the text = "great fish"; which includes a variety of animals. IMO, it is a reference to Leviathan.
and remains in it's belly for three days at which time the man is freed (resurrection).

##Hope that is not a suggestion that Taurus = Torah; one word is Latin, the other Hebrew.

## None of this proves anything, because the motions of the heavens are not human conventions - the naming & number of the Zodiacal signs, are very definitely human conventions. For example, the Babylonian Zodiac has this:

 • Taurus = alap shame - Bull of Heaven
 • Aries = HUN.GA - Agru - Hired Man
 • Pisces - zibbatu - Tails
 • Aquarius = GU.AN.NA - the Great One
Some identifications match, other overlap, some are the same. Since the Greeks in Babylonia were influenced by Babylonian astronomy, the similarities are unsurprising.
## So...how does one tell which details are significant ? Or whether any of them are ? Maybe it was the coming-down of Moses, or the name of Aaron, or the size of the calf, or the "rising up to play", or Joshua, or the massacre, or the breaking of the tablets, that was siginficant. Maybe the Exodus as a whole is significant. You are simply choosing what you think is significant - but suppose you are wrong.

For all you know, the golden calf could be an allegory of US capitalism - why not ? The trouble is, anyone can invent a ridiculous or very far-fetched explanation for things that do not need it. That does not make it accurate. Anyone with a bit of imagination can make up any ridiculous story they like - & they often do. The pouches of the Levites are "obviously" sporrans, the Passover is obviously a foreunner of Burns Night, the tribes are obviously clans, and the (hollow) golden calf is obviously an early method of preparing a haggis for human consumption; Aaron being the "hag ish" or "feast-man" in charge of serving it. BTW, the water is obviously Scotch Whisky, the name of which means "water of life". The man is carrying the whisky in order to celebrate Burns Night. after piping in the sacred haggis or hagish, the name of which has become attached to the food instead of referring to its server. The
"rising up to play" of the clans of Israel is a clear allusion to the shindig known as a ceilidh, or gathering. How was Jericho brought down ? By six days of the bagpipes, obviously.

It all makes perfect sense. This explanation, I suspect, accounts for far more in the Bible than the explanation you suggest :) All history makes perfect sense once it is understood that Biblical Israel is the country commonly referred to as Scotland. The Culdees are obviously the Chaldees, the Hebrides are called after their inhabitants the sons of Heber or Eber, names beginning with "Bal" are a reminder of Israelite Baal-worship, & the list goes on. There is even a reference to the kilt in Genesis 3, which proves it is the original garment of the Patriarchs before the Flood.

2012 is just another year, not something to fear in any way.
Kinda like "Who discovered America?"
Most will say Christopher Columbus but how can you discover something that has native americans living there already?
## Maybe the question is asked from the POV of "Europeans" (not that Europe existed in 1492). If you want to be pedantic, the answer may be, "the Vikings, in 1000".

## UFOs are the space age edition of fairies - people are as credulous as ever, but the content of the credulity has been brought up to date, that's all. Credulity may be scientific in form, but that means no more than that it has been superficially modernised.
They will easily make you think you have to wait for everything. Your life was supposed to be work at walmart, go home and watch desperate housewives, go to church on sunday and get a free ticket to heaven?
## US Christianity is in very deep trouble if it teaches that there can be "a free ticket to heaven".
Take away everything man-made and all we are left with is ourselves, the stars, and nature. That is all you need my friend...the rest is a technology blur.

First of all please don't judge me. It's in most holy books. Practice what you preach.
##It's not in the Koran. Or the Old Testament. You may have difficulty finding any reference to the crucifixion of Buddha, or to the Ascension of Shiva into Heaven. To find bits and pieces of vaguely Christian-like texts is easy, if one spreads one's net very wide, and puts together a story about Dionysus, a quotation from an Sumerian hymn of self-praise, a Babylonian lament, a garbled reference to the Druids, a 19th century allegorisation of the account in the Theogony of the castration of Ouranos by Kronos, a derivations or two of Greek & English words as though they were Aramaic, & God knows what other nonsense - but the result is not a "pagan Christ"; it's a Frankenstein's monster, a thing of shreds and patches put together to create something totally foreign to the religions which have been ransacked in order to piece it together, having no existence outside the mind of its fabricator. To find a couple of references to something in some way like Jesus in an Egyptian text from 2000 BC, is not evidence - let alone proof - that any other culture knew of the alleged similarities.

Nor is it any argument against Christ, that His teaching had in various ways been anticipated. He is Truth - not Originality. He doesn't have to be, in the vulgar sense, original. Priority in time is interesting, but it is not an objection that others come before Him: of course they did - He "came in the fullness of time", not the beginning of time. There are anticipations of His teaching in Homer, & in Babylonian texts - as one might expect. So the idea that Christianity is somehow threatened by pre-Christian anticipations of his teaching is unfounded - God is not shackled to Jesus or to Israel, & there are many other nations. If God is truly the God of all nations, then He is unlikely not to work among them & to grant them His gifts. Christianity is catholic, IOW universal - not a sect terrified of whatever does not begin with it.

Maybe "pagan" things existed in order to be made Christian, since all creation is His. Whatever ancient stories there may be of figures similar to Jesus, may be types & shadows of Him, anticipations of Him. Jesis may be the True Horus, the True Dionysus, the true Marduk, & so on. He is what they are for, their stories point to His. He is the goal of the Gospel - why not of mythology, wisdom, worship ?

Sounds like your saying something to make the back of your mind at ease. I didn't put this stuff in the bible...it was already there and it matches astronomy and astrology and previous religions. It is what it is...if you can't see it then your beyond help.

Yes please note the username and read about him...it's the exact same story as jesus..down to the last detail. Don't throw this fact aside...it's well documented. (Oh and it happened a couple thousands years before jesus).
## To be known about by later generations, something has to be recorded; whether in writing, sculpture, or other ways. So:

 • Where is what you are talking about recorded ?
 • If the sources are texts, are they written in Egyptian, Sumerian, Akkadian, Greek, Latin, or what ?
 • Are they contemporary with what they describe ?
 • Are they first-hand or second-hand, or even more remote ?
 • Are they trustworthy ?
 • Who first discovered, edited, translated them ?
 • What is the genre of the text in which these things are recorded ?
 • Has what you speak of been discussed in any reputable & peer-reviewed academic publication, monograph, essay, Festschrift, article, journal, or anything of that kind ?
 • If so - can you perhaps give some references ?
All these questions - and more - need to be answered. You say "it happened a couple thousands years before [J]esus" - so, what happened ?
Go figure. It's the same story rehashed for thousands of years...they just change the name and everyone falls for it hook, line and sinker. This tactic worked well when people were isolated. But now with the internet and research it's easy to see what has been done. It's just some people's mind's will never change...your in too deep probably.
## No - some people have an academic training, that's all. Which often helps to protect them against swallowing nonsense like this.
P.S. You were born with everything you need. If everyone was supposed to have a bible we would be born with one. Use common sense. Get rid of the mad-made part of things that has corrupted everything. Constantine is the one who commisioned the bible to be written at the council of nicea hundreds of years after jesus.
## Three facts:

 • Constantine did not commission the writing of the Bible, if by writing you mean composition of the original text
 • He did commission 50 copies of it to be written for use in the churches
 • Nicea was in 325 - they were commissioned in 331
