  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I want everyone to wake up like i did.

"read about mithra, osiris"

Oh I have, but the question which naturally arises is: Have you? Because the so called parallels I so often hear won't stand up to even a cursory reading of the myths themselves. To take just a few examples:

1.) Mithras was born of a virgin - Wrong, Mithras was born out of a rock before the creation of the world.
2.) Mithras rose from the dead - Wrong, the mithraic myth does not even mention a death of Mithras, let alone a ressurection.
3.) Mithras/Horus had twelve disciples - Wrong again. There is a stone relief of Mithras which shows him in the presence of twelve other persons, and it is true that Cumont assumed that they must represent twelve disciples. However, Mithraic scholars today believe them to represent the twelve signs of the Zodiac.
4.) There is a story about Horus in the temple as a twelve year old - That one is a complete fabrication. Nowhere in Egyptian mythology is such an event narrated.

"Son (Jesus) in the bible put in Sun (Light of the World, etc.)"

Yes, well unforunately that word play will only work in English. In Greek, for example, the relevant words are huios and helios.
