Be gentle now, she doesnt mean any harm she just is not very informed in this. She seems very sincere.

Given some guidance she might well be able to see that belief on the one hand, in ones personal inerrance and on the other, the contrary evidence of all the work of the world's scientific community that says that one is wrong...

maybe that will begin to work itself out in her mind, toward a more reasonable view.

i understand your point, but these type of 'well meaning and sincere' people who are grossly ill informed and are prepared to go throwing opinions around about stuff they dont really get are as much of a problem as the dishonest propogranda spreaders.

we can do good cop, bad cop if you like. shotgun bad cop.

Um ... if your "humiliation" consisted of correcting my original post that it was the Parliament -- not the king -- that did that, then I suppose, in your mind, you did.

Well, you also tried to make a point about economics based on the look on someone's face, ignored the fact that not everyone in London (ahem) was up in arms about education cuts - but hey, if I displayed such a breathtaking ignorance of something like that, I'd probably try and gloss it over too.

Oh, and Parliament has held sway over the monarchy for the best part of several centuries, so yeah, I'd say that someone thinking that (to use an analogous example) that America is still ruled by the British should be pretty darn embarrassed - then again, I'm talking to someone who thinks ignorance is a virtue so maybe I shouldn't get my hopes up.

You consider it an insult for Christians to live up to a Christian standard?

I guess you would -- a Christian standard is about personal humility, not personal glory.
Keep ranting about "Christian standards" -- as if you're making an impact.

I can get you guys to deny they even exist.

All I have to do is say this country was built on Christian principles, and watch you guys do a 180 real fast.

You're only fooling yourselves.

You might want to check that post again, then; specifically the very first word.

In any case, I'm in the mood right now to do this with posts that mention how we need an education, regardless of typos.

It's fun to make fun of those who think they are smarter than us -- or know more.

actually i didn't say she needed an education, i said she was ignorant about religion and how it relates to evolution. I then provided some examples of the areas she was ignorant in ie the popes comments etc.

there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I am smarter than you and know more than you.

I've owned you so many times on this site already that you have gone back into childish troll mood, and believe me it is one of the most satisfying things I have seen since i've been here :)

Cool!

And if you talk like that, my buddy just might show up here and give you a lesson on narcissism -- (or maybe not).

This wouldn't be someone who thinks pointing out demonstrated errors and general ignorance of a subject is "elitist", would it?

Because of the cuts to public funding you complete muffin.
All I know is what was on the news.

Either way -- you guys in England pay more, thanks to the law of supply-and-demand.

So, like I say, keep ranting about education.

Let's all go enroll for the next quarter, so we can have our tuition tripled as well.

You guys make a good sales pitch.

Excuse my french but how the hell do you believe in evolution and God. Do you not know he who was is and has yet to come. Why so foolish? Do you not understand the contradictions of evolution and the creator. Are you that lost in the world. You cannot believe in two things that contradict eachother. One that says it forms itself and the other(God) who says I am the creator. You truely need guidance. It is not science people are afraid of it is the misusuage of science to lead people astray and away from God that people are frustrated about. Science is only good when it does not lie, but it seems it has brainwashed you into its lies and for that I am saddened :(
Hi angel, welcome to the forum.

Don't forget we are followers of Jesus Christ, and our understanding of the the Creator comes from knowing Jesus Christ. Yet Jesus loved to speak in metaphor and parables. So what if it turns we misunderstood what God was saying to us in Genesis, Jesus' own disciples misunderstood him regularly. There is no contradiction between evolution and God being the creator, because God works through natural processes all the time. That is why we pray to the Father to "give us this day our daily bread" even though we know it is factory mills and bakeries who make the bread and farmers who grow the wheat. Why shouldn't God work through natural processes? He created them.

No, it's my buddy who likes to point out that one pointing out his post count to someone who is accusing him of never having said something is tantamount to looking in a pool of water and falling in love with his reflection.

All I know is what was on the news.

From who? Fox? Sesame Street?

Either way -- you guys in England pay more, thanks to the law of supply-and-demand.

No, not even close! It was due to the current administration enacting cuts on every level, and given the track record of the political parties in power, an ideological basis was suspected, especially given that those responsible for the drop in the economy aren't seen as being punished while people who want an education (a pretty basic right) are. It wasn't that there was a sudden rise in demand (it's not like there's a recession on or anything) - it's way, way more complicated than a little one-liner like that.

Please, keep up with this absolutely cretinous argument - your ignorance of other countries' politics is nothing short of hilarious ^_^

So, like I say, keep ranting about education.

Let's all go enroll for the next quarter, so we can have our tuition tripled as well.

I'd love to know how this makes the slightest bit of difference to the repeat observation that you guys are lagging behind. Better to be personally rich and thick, is it?

You guys make a good sales pitch.

Someone as proud of ignorance as you is the perfect reason why more people need to be educated, and why people like you have no business in the education system.

I don't care why or how it was done -- it was done.

Are you saying those people were upset over nothing?

Do they all owe you guys an apology now, for not understanding the whole issue?

Lagging behind what? the rest of the world?

Haven't I pointed out that this shouldn't be some kind of a contest?

I have a friend from Philippines who grew up in a little rural farming village, just about as unsophisticated as you can get. Very Catholic, and painfully superstitious! Literally didnt know the earth moves around the sun. That kind of ignorant about the world.

she was shocked by the whole notion of evolution. if the devil with horns and a tail had told it, it wouldnt have been worse!

She now has a college degree, and has a good career and drives a Lexus!

But then she is very smart, and very adaptable. it was interesting how when she'd discover some wrong idea she and and say, "oh i see, that is just a superstition, now i dont believe it anymore".

So I know some people can learn and change, and its really nice to give someone the benefit of the doubt. See if our friend here will listen, and not just repeat the misinformation she has been told and stick to it.

Of course ^_^

I don't care why or how it was done --

That's coming across.

Are you saying those people were upset over nothing?

Do they all owe you guys an apology now, for not understanding the whole issue?

The only one not understanding here is you.

I didn't say it was -- did I?

Reducing it entirely to supply-and-demand - yes, yes you did.

I don't know why they tripled the tuition, nor do I care.

Again, that's coming across - factual accuracy is not a strong suit of creationists.

Lagging behind what? the rest of the world?

Haven't I pointed out that this shouldn't be some kind of a contest?

No, to a point it shouldn't, but it is worthwhile pointing out when some fundie thinks that America's the greatest purely because they believe in gaaaaaaaaaaawd and other countries are atheist hell-holes.

But then again, education is pretty much the mainstay of progress, so it really is something that more people should be getting het-up about.

wall, at leese i no im ignit. naw like sum a yu that like ta brag about how mutch yu no

rofl, not this again.

Yes, there are some things we don't know. That doesn't stop us from knowing more than your average creationist, nor should anyone be ashamed of that, especially if this is their level of argument ^_^

And notice how we're actually, y'know, working to IMPROVE on our less-than-creationist level of ignorance, instead of extolling it as a virtue?

If nothing else, you people are useful reminders of what awaits us if we fail to be diligent in that regard.

Funny how farming villages are always 'little' -- isn't it?
... just about as unsophisticated as you can get.
Funny how farmers are always 'unsophisticated' -- isn't it?
Very Catholic...
What does 'very Catholic' mean?
... and painfully superstitious!
Funny how superstition generates pain in others -- isn't it?
Literally didnt know the earth moves around the sun.
Probably had more important things on her mind, like farming?
That kind of ignorant about the world.
You mean the solar system?

Heaven knows we need to know the earth revolves around the sun to work a plow, don't we?
She now has a college degree, and has a good career and drives a Lexus!
Don't park your $200,000.00 Lamborghini in my driveway and start bragging, or I'll take you out back and show you my $650,000.00 combine.

Yes, there are some things we don't know.
Some things???

I would say that's an understatement.

You make Master Po look good when he gets on me about being narcissistic.
That doesn't stop us from knowing more than your average creationist...
Oooh -- step back and let the college students through, folks.

After all, all creationists should attend a college of their choice, shouldn't they?

You don't have to go to college to know more than a creationist - simply going through primary school (What would that be there? "Kindergarten"?) qualifies you for that.
