I read a meme the other day that got me curious...

First, you side with German food over Italian. I could understand - somewhat - because you grew up with it...but to pass on Italian for British?!

Meh.
Italian food.

Hooray, a different type of noodle covered with tomato sauce. Ooh, lets add chicken or meatballs and call it something else.

Risotto is actually rice in a broth. You also have pizza which is an international staple. You have sauces which are tomato based, dairy based, or herb based. Pesto, baby. Even their cold cuts have influenced other countries. Salami, anyone?

Oh, and there's the seafood:

No exceptions.
EVER.
:p

How can you not like calamari? It hardly has any fishy taste. Or even shrimp, for that matter. Even lobster with some melted butter and a lemon squeeze here and there is a Godsend.

MMMMMMMMM I love seafood and thanks BK - im hungry...now.

I drink my tea with sugar. I have heard but dont know if its true that drinking lemon in tea can lead to altzheimer's.
I do not put milk in my tea - but i do milk in coffee with sugar. :yum:

Am i the only 'Joe' drinker? Gotta have that stuff.

Some bar food is good. Pizza's are good [they are homemade here] and wings - juicy saucy wings. :yum:

With regards to British food in pubs, PASS! There are certain British foods that are similar in Eastern Europe/Poland. With that said, give me the chicken wings, hot dogs (Pick your sausage [Viennese sausage, bratwurst, Italian, kielbasa), fries, the nachos grande with extra jalapenos, the greasy burger topped with onions vs. ...black pudding (Kaszanka) or any meat that is in gelatin (Mieso w galarecie).

There is a difference between preferring a particular food, or national cuisine, and saying that that cuisine is bad.

I dont tend to be a huge fan of a lot of Chinese food. But I would not say it is all bad. I know it can be well cooked and I enjoy it from time to time.

If you would rather have a hotdog than a steak and kidney pie, I have no issue with that. But that does not mean that British food is all gross.

It's as much British as a chorizo is Japanese.

It's Indian.

Look, the British (and in fact I think specifically the Scottish) claim it. That is not uncontested - some say it did originate on the Indian sub-continent. But there are a ton of British curries, and other British-Indian dishes, and it is not at all out to lunch that it could be a British dish. Indians that have been living in the UK for generations are British, and the British culinary tradition includes Indian traditions.

Its no different than Donairs, which are part of the fast food tradition in Eastern Canada. Yes, they also come out of a Turkish tradition, but to say they are Turkish food would be inaccurate. Solomon Gundy is eastern Canadian, but from Germanic immigrants.

If you are totally against claiming anything that could be controversial as British, say that British food includes a lot of great curries, or muligwatawny soup, or whatever dish you like that represents the Anglo-Indian tradition.

I like all three, but I think Italian might be third of the three for me.

Scandinavian food is really big lately, and I find I am enjoying that too.

I think it is because I have a real taste for some of the pickles and those kinds of flavours which have a big place in those cuisines. Maybe because they are more Northern, and they needed to preserve things that way. In the summer I find I am much more likely to eat from Meddeteranian types of foods or foods from other hot countries, so I suppose my climate may have an influence as well.

Bingo.
Down here there most people drink Sweet tea.
Hot tea is for British People and Old ladies.

I think though maybe Silvio (was is Silvio:confused:) thought that you meant tea with milk is uncommon in the US.

I think it is quite common in New England though, I do not know about the Midwest (I would guess yes) and west coast.

That is what I meant.
At least down here, even people who drink hot tea, don't usually put milk in it.

Marmite.
I LOVE MARMITE!
It supposedly has a stronger, more pungent taste than Vegemite.

Lutefisk.
Bleh

In Sweden they have something similar, but even worse. (Or so I'm told)
Called Surströmming.
Anytime you get the words "Fermented" and "Fish" together, I'm getting as far away as possible.
There's a good reason it is not eaten in the house.
My friend who lived in Sweden said he could not stand the stuff.
That's it. Marmite. I could not hang with the Vegemite. The stuff actually made my eyes water. I gagged. Mom? Loves the stuff. *shrug*

I assume Surstromming give those who indulge rancid gas? ^_^

Milk & honey added to my hot tea is how I've always drank it.

@ S.ilvio-san: I so agree with that. However, there are some exceptions though. Like green tea. But matcha milk tea ain't bad though, especially when sugar saturation is either @ 50-100% then I guarantea that it is good. Also, I never ever enjoy Starbucks' green tea frappes without em'.

Ok, so i got a recipe for Michie and i to try...
Then i read the 1st ingredient.

ACK!

Black Pudding (Blood Pudding) Recipe

This is the Southern American version - i am sure we could work our way up to the Euro way.
Since it is acquired and all that.

HOLLY CRAP! Oh my goodness! No way! I know that puddings can be delicious but this?
*gulp*
