Hey a friend of mine has cancer and we are looking for ways to help raise money for her. I have been praying but what we have so far isn't going to raise enough money. Can any of you help me think of some ways to help her look up and cheer her up she has started to loss her hair now.

She is a senior and is on the softball team, but can't do anything for the team. I would really like to find away tomake her feel as if she is a part of the team.

Can someone out here please help me because I don't know how she's going to get through with out support or how I'll get through if she dosen't get through.

I will always think of others before I think of myself I guess that is a bit of my own problem.

Nikki :help:

You're a good friend, Nikki. One piece of advice is, she may need someone that she can talk to about her fears, or just complain about how awful she feels. Sometimes, trying to cheer someone up isn't what they need--they need to be able to let out their feelings in a safe environment.

The best you can do, I think, is to treat her like you always have. Don't pretend that she's not sick, but at the same time don't make everything about her having cancer. I bet she'd like to be able to forget that once in a while.

As for the softball team, can she sit on the bench with the other players during games? Does she have the strength to help with equipment or score tracking? Those things might help her feel more involved.

Sweet Shalom Nikki!

You are a true Christian friend indeed, being supportive in a very crucial time of need!

Fundraising ideas...

a carwash (a whole team of softball players could wash a lot of cars!) :D

team garage sale (get team members, teachers, other students to donate stuff)

player auction (auction off players as helpers for a day.)

offer yard service

maybe your friend's family should consider asking a Bank to open a Trust Fund (then advertise in TV news, free radio public service announcement, and in the newspaper) That way word will get out and much needed donations will pour in!

You ARE a great friend, Nikki, she is fortunate to have you in her life.

Here's a thought for her hair loss from the chemo:

CRAZY wigs. Big wigs, pink wigs, blue wigs, mohawk wigs, anything strange/funny/lighthearted that will bring a smile to her face & the people around her.

Not knowing her, I dont know if this is something that would fit her personality, but it came to mind, so I thought I'd offer it.

God bless you & her,

thank you all and I will try some of you Ideas its just that everyday she looks worse I just hope that we can find a marrow match and I hope that she will make it through.

she has lost so much weight and It hurts to see her sometimes but it feels nice when she has a smile on her face.

Thanks again for all the great advice...
