ok so my issue. i wanna know what the Christians are supposed to believe about the paranormal. ghosts, spirits, physics, etc.
ive been led to believe that those type things are evil. but i just dont feel like thats true...
im 17... and i think ive had a few paranormal experiences in my chort lifetime. i fit many of the characteristics of an indigo child, and im in the right age range. im developing characteristics of "crystal children", like a lot of people say that indigo children will.
im very confused and curious right now. i think i may have a gift, but im afraid to accept it, bc of what it would mean. for my spirituality...
someone please, please help me to understand all this...
Hi, I'm glad you wrote.
I see you have a Chistian icon, and are wanting to know what Christians think on the matters you mentioned.
As to the list at top here is a passage from the bible as to what God says of some of those things:
Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in [
a] the fire,
who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you.
There's several reasons God mentions this if not more, but two I can give you off hand.
He is speaking with the nation he chose the ot, the Israelites. They, like us, were to be set apart and different than those in the world.
We are to be set apart and different than those in the world, and such occurs spiritually when we believe/have faith/trust in Jesus.
Also as we turn from the sin/our past we are set apart, as well as the many things which occur when we come to Christ, spitually, and from reading the bible, and having our minds renewed (which come by reading the bible) and as I said the much that occurs to us in Christ, and we continue to grow in all our lives.
The other reason is that such is done by demons.
Ghosts, and abilities to do paranormal things are done by demons such as all listed in the above passage.
The above things are not by the power of God.
Not all is by demons as some is by trade, a sort of smoke and mirrors things, such as many magicians do.
When someone has come to Christ, from an occultic past or experiences, and/or has abilities by demons, they may still be able to do what they used to do.
So, the thing to do is to stop as we see above God calls it detestable. The other thing is to keep away from such things. Bible says flee from evil, or same as run from evil.. Such is how important it is to get away from any involvement in such.
There are many Christians who have come out of the occult, or had occult like experienes, and if you desire, I can find someone who can write to you to help you.
So while you wrote you're not sure if is evil, it is of evil as is by demonic abilities, and not from God and written not to participate in such as well.
Another reason that God does not desire people to do such is that in things such as psyhic, calling on the dead etc, God wants us to go to Him, to trust in Him, talk with Him, and seek Him only.
At the end of your post you say it is a gift and you don't know if you should accept it.
Clearly, it is not a gift of God.
In the new testament a girl could tell the future. In the passage an apostle tells the spirit to come out of her, which it does.
In the OT there were those who could replicate some things by magic, (demons.) This is written about as in Exodus I believe and pertains to pharoah.
There are little bits here and there, but is all known as evil.
Not that you are evil, however God says do not do such things and we know in general how very dangerous it is to be involved in the occult, as is a way of attracting demons as well.
Of course as believers in Christ, when we are under spiritual attack demons indeed can cause us problems, though we do not know for sure, as can not see in the spiritual realm, however, the difference is, is that while under attack, or believing one is under attack, one calls one can say in the name of Jesus I command you to leave (of course one must be a Christian.)
Bible says our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual wickedness in high places. (demons) highly paraphrased but can find this in ephesians 6.
And one does not want to be obsessed with the demonic realm, as that is a huge problem, nor does one want to ignore that such exists, including satan, and again speaking of ephesians 6, and nor does one ever want to fear satan or demons.. as we know that the one who is in us (God) is greater than the one in this world (satan.)
satan and demons are of course fallen angels and do evil, and they were created as angels.. there are good angels and angels who fell (sinned) called demons, including satan, who is a fallen angel an evil being,who lies to us about God, as satan is a liar (and lies about much), deciever and murderer. Such as the same as are demons.
you can see why no one wants anything to do with demonic abilities, powers, or be obsessed or play with 'fire'
