  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Last company I worked for, we only used Microsoft Excel and Access to perform Correlation and Statistical analysis of data for things like deciding which supplier was the most efficient.

I automated some of the spreadsheets so each time, we only had to output a spreadsheet or text file from the SAP ERP, take it to excel and you'll have the results in just seconds with just a few clicks.

We have about millions of data points per analysis. So if we didn't have a SAP ERP or Oracle suite, it would take forever to manually input the data in Excel.

However, our clerks still have to manually input data to SAP ERP from things like purchase orders everyday. But it's not tedious everytime since they do it everyday. It only becomes extremely tedious if have to manually collect and manually input a monthly or yearly data to a spreadsheet. Good thing we can export it from the SAP.

I don't know of other apps but I see no reason to upgrade from using Excel either for data analysis. If you can automate the sheets, it makes life very easy at work gives you a lot of free time for facebook, w/e. Anyway I don't facebook, I use my free time to automate the other spreadsheets that we could actually reduce some of our staff in analysis work, lol! But fortunately, we don't.

If you're looking for a good project management tool in general, I would recommend Hansoft or alternatively its lighter pack Favro. There's also Trello and Jira, which are similar (though I've never used them personally). I'm not sure about the precise nature of your work, but you can basically tailor these tools to your needs as you please, so you can easily manage work and teams in a way that makes sense to you. People can collaborate, delegate work, comment, post documents etc, and you can easily create tasks, schedules and charts that all work in sync. These programs come with a wide selection of features and there are many 3rd party plugins available (for example if you want to link some content up with google docs or dropbox etc)
