It's embarrasing to share the details...............It began when I fell in love with a SDA woman who was not so active in any church.
Our 3yr old daughter has memorized the 4th commandment.
The SDA church my wife (we)attends recites it sacrificially every sabbath. . Id rather not air too much more of my personal life here.:o:o:o:o

Your comments are a lot like those we dealt with on another thread related to this issue.

It should be evendent now, why I try to get answers from SDA members.
MY HOME, MY FAMILY, DEPENDS ON IT

They rather marinate all discussion with their commentary rather than the Gospel that eyewitnesses wrote for our learning.

If their agenda was to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, I would be a winner.

I often interact with SDA members to direct or redirect their focus on the what was actaully taught rather than questionable reasoning I have to sift through all the time.
My wife would probably be the last SDA...........
The unfortunate truth is that more people from 3rd world nations (english as a second language) fall for their teachings because they closely imitate the practices of other churches.

According to SDA General Counsel there may be approx 18 million SDA worldwide. (lets say 20mil) .
There are approx 1 milion SDA in North America and Canada.
What percentage do you believe are 2 generation American?
What percentage do you beileve are African Americans?
What percentage do you believe are white American?

These demograthic are important to consider the culture of those who are drawn to the SDA message and who are not.

OBSERVATION: More often than not, our native history primarily defines what we'd adopt as truth.

SDA Missionaries are very effective in their work abroad. These foriegners then come to the USA and become part of the institution.

CRIB,

Jesus, our Lord, in his flesh, lost the battle as man sees, but he won the spiritual war with the principalities and the powers that rule the spirits of men in this world.

Col 2:15
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. KJV

Men, inspired by the principalities and powers, taunted Jesus our Lord in the hour of his weakness. Taunting comes from those who are confident through their human capacities that they are pleasing to God, either by the works of ceremonial obedience or their faith and the corresponding humanitarian works.

We will be made into the image of Jesus' sufferings in body, mind and spirit as we gain the victory over the wicked one. Then we will be granted an entrance into his priesthood and its service to the nations.

To add to all of this.....my son 5 is ready for kindergarden, but since EGW counsel say boys are not ready to leave home until 7yrs I'm in a spiritual struggle to lead my family.
I'm being called "led by the devil" because I want my kids in public school.
Truth is, I want to minimize the fear of reality and the brainwashing that I cant stop from happening to my kids.

My "on again off again vegetarian," stay home wife, will fight me till I'm dead because I will never live by commentary that contradicts God's word.

Perhaps you could have a discussion with your wife on the issue of the Trinity & show her how Ellen rejected it. The whole; Jesus could have sinned and then would have been cast into hell by "God" then Jesus gets burned up and ceases to exist permanently" should be enough to wake anyone up.

I think once she is shown that she does not believe what the denomination told her she believes that should be enough of a shock to cause a deeper reading of the Scriptures and then certainly she would see.

I will pray for you and your family. Pm me your name and I'll start!

SDA live primarily by EGW writings. They're quick to claim that certain practices are not their church teaching but 6 out of 8 tend to follow what they call "the spirit of prophecy" (her writings)

Get her to say on record that "the Bible" is what proves her doctrines then simply show her where Ellen said Jesus could have sinned and failed, lost His salvation, etc.

Next,

Show her in the Bible where it says that our salvation was assured in Jesus prior to the creation of the world.............
........And show her where this theme is repeated over and over again.

If the Bible says that our salvation was never a matter of "IF" but of "WHEN" and Christ was identified directly prior to His Incarnation.

Matthew 1 said:
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins

Strong's G4982 said:
1) to save, keep safe and sound, to rescue from danger or destruction

Prior to the Incarnation of "God", we are told that He WOULD Save His people from their sins. That is 100% fact and the reality of this situation.

What you have to do is be gentle and show her that the Bible has nothing to do with her doctrines and instead if Ellen says one thing and the Bible something else then Ellen leads the way - she would first need to admit there is a problem and showing her where this teaching of Ellen that Christ could have lost His salvation is the key. She will either say

A) I don't care what the Bible says

OR

B) The Bible 100% teaches that Jesus could NEVER have sinned.

CRIB,

This is when the Lord brings us through Deuteronomy and the song of Moses that drops down like rain and like the dew.

Deut 28:65-67
65 And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:

66 And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee; and thou shalt fear day and night, and shalt have none assurance of thy life:

67 In the morning thou shalt say, Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear, and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see. KJV

Just like Adam and Abraham and Moses and David and Paul. Peter denied that he would be like this, then he cursed and denied and then he wept and converted.

Just curious -- is your wife home schooling your son?

The model of marriage presented in the Bible is one of servanthood and submission. Sometimes these principles have to be modeled by one spouse before the other spouse will recognize their value. This involves an awful lot of selflessness and sucking up things that are important to the spouse who does the modeling. I can't say that I've mastered this idea, but I definitely have tried it during periods of marital deadlock.

I fell in love with an SDA man. Then I realized I couldn't marry him if he was SDA. It was too different to my beliefs and I didn't want our kids being raised SDA. It all worked out. He converted (I say converted because that is truly what it was).

Would it really be so bad to keep your son home from school a little longer, especially if it would contribute to harmony in the family? Our kids all started school later than they could have but not because of EGW's writings; we had already left Adventism by the time they started school, and I had never agreed with everything that EGW wrote anyway. We just wanted to keep them home as long as possible to allow them to mature a little more before being sent away from us for so many hours per day. Our son especially wouldn't have been ready to start school at age five. I'm very glad that we waited to enroll them in school and that I was able to stay home and have that extra time with them.

Frankly, I don't believe that EGW's counsel on this is harmful; in fact, it is even beneficial for many families, so why fight your wife on it if she believes that it would be better for your kids to stay at home until they are seven? Unfortunately, I think that you have to live with your kids being taught some things that you don't agree with since you married an Adventist. They're her kids, too, and you can't blame her for wanting to teach them her beliefs. As the head of the household, you may have to compromise on certain things for the sake of peace. If you fight her on everything, your wife will likely be even more turned off by your differing beliefs than she is predisposed to be as an Adventist. My suggestion would be to take a stand on the things that are anti-biblical and spiritually toxic about Adventism. My opinion is that this is not one of those things.

My name is compromise, that's why I cant continue to be led and not take the lead in this and other issues.
Actually, when my wife was pregnant we made an agreement to build this house with the agreement that we'd go to that public school across from where we built. Now is the time to enroll our son. Our economical outlook requires that we sell the house if she is going to be a stay home wife.
........Extremely sensitive situation..........Appreciate your comments.

I loved public school, in my first marriage my 3children went to public school (all college grads). I knew this would be an issue, so I did compromize. This Elementary school in question is one of the best schools in the USA (#54).
