I have decided to quit gaming.

I am addicted to video games. Especially MMORPGs such as WoW, EQ2, Vanguard, etc. However, a few days ago I decided to uninstall these, not visit their websites (except maybe a scant few times a year just to check up :p) and cease TV watching (except for 4 shows until they go off in a couple of years). I just don't feel right playing games anymore, even WoW. And I was looking forward to AOC, too. :p

To each their own. Gaming should never take precedence in one's life, especially in one's walk with God. Games aren't evil, idols are. And if games are an idol in your life, eliminate them.

Just curious, what will you do with the vacuum of
time now not taken by games and tv?

Maybe it's the games you are playing. I know I wont touch those games you listed. I used to play them, well EQ2 for a little and others quite extensively (i.e. EQ, UO, Shadowbane etc..), but for the rest of those you listed I quit playing those types of games before they were released (i.e. Vanguard and WoW). Their high fantasy full of sorcery, wizardry, necromancy etc.. which is all occult inspired material. I am guessing that the Lord is wanting to give you the desire for things other than that, He did for me, so you feel conviction in at least how it truly is a waste of time at this point; though a waste of time with those games is only a small part of their negativism in my view but that is up to you to seek His full understanding as to why you are feeling that way.

But yeah, what ever the case, it's good to take a break from gaming at times. Spend time seeking God's will for your life and searching the depths of his wisdom of which you can ask for. The reasons for the things He has us do or not do aren't always apparent to us at first, sometimes that takes a bit of work on our part to fully understand the why's of his directions. But usually the first step before we can understand the "why" better is to "do" first.

Now before someone says I hate all games, as usually is said, I do not hate all games. I just stay away from certain types of games. Actually I like games quite a bit, even to the point of learning how to develop them and maybe spending the next 40 years developing them professionally. Games are not bad inherently, but just like any good thing, some can be twisted into something bad.
