• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I am 26 right now and I was diagnosed with it 5 years ago when I was 21.

They say that we autistics are remarkably smarter than the average bear, lol. :D

We're more focused (which still confers some advantages).

Smartness distribution is still about the same as NTs.

I have PDD-NOS. I am very smart in most areas but I struggled with advanced algebra, pre-calculus and foreign language classes. Other than that I'm really smart, even made the dean's list last semester.

Since many of us are not from there, it is hard for us to know what services are available to you. Your best bet is to find a local autism advocacy group.

Most Aspies are competent enough to take care of ourselves. More severe forms of autism require more intense intervention in adulthood.

That has more to do with knowing the Bible and having the Baptism of the Holy Spirit.

With that background, anytime that I get a temptation that goes against God, I can pray and ask Him for resolve or wisdom in that matter. He will usually give me an appropriate Scripture, like Jesus did when He was tempted by the devil, in Matthew 4:1-11,

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
The tempter said:
If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.
Jesus said:
Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.
Jesus said:
Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
All this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me.
Jesus said:
Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.
Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.
As we are able to do that, we arrest that bad advice, just as the police would apprehend a criminal and take them to jail. God wants us to police our thought-life (with His help, of course).

That is what is meant by,

"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
"
2Corinthians 10:5
