Because Jesus died for my sins, and I confessed with my mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, thus receiving Your free gift of salvation.

Because one did not accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.

Wow, that was a depressing read!
Unfortunately, I suspect it's pretty accurate. I've read so many reports, etc. claiming that around 80% of Americans are Christian. I think the true number probably falls somewhere around 5%.

This is really interesting. I noticed that the question was also posed on the Baptist forum. Their answers don't fall in line with what this article suggests, but I suspect that's because that poll was taken of "general church goers", not specifically Christians.

Yea, I'm not sure of the process that the company or firm went about obtaining their answers, but it is interesting.

Here the answers are being obtained from people who appear to be more diligent followers of The Lord on this message board, but is that a true representation of the whole? Hard to tell. Maybe the company or firm did get a more truer opinion of it all. Again, hard to tell.

Romans says in chapter 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”(that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”

If one goes to heaven it's only because he/she repented and accepted Christ's atoning sacrifice for their sins. The other would have had to have rejected it.
