The meaning of life is to become like Jesus.

Best way to accomplish this is 2 things,

The commands Jesus gave in Matthew, don't neglect them

Knowing the mystery of Grace,

Forget what you thought the word Grace meant, because it means empowerment.
Have faith in the empowerment to the ends of becoming Holy.
Then it can be accomplished which is said, be ye Holy even as I am Holy.

You cannot be Holy and sinless in your own ability, you need that empowerment.

Follow these two things, and you will certainly be much more like Jesus.
Don't underestimate Jesus' commands.

I keep hearing give you life to Jesus or live your life for Jesus. How would someone do this?
Or look in the bible for the answer how do you look in the bible for answers?
The phrase "give your life to Jesus" is a term of Christianity. It is not explicitly in the Bible. Meaning, there is no verse that says "give your life to Jesus."

You could do a search on it by writing this is the search box, "Christian phrase, give your life to Jesus".

You will get a number of links that will correspond to your search.

The phrase above refers to the Bible term "born again."

To find out what the Bible has to say about it, you could do a search online for the phrase "born again". Preface it with "Bible verse"

So that it looks like this "Bible verse, born again".

You will get many links from Bible places that will give you many scriptures that will correspond to your search.

Romans 10:9-10
9 If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

It is days like these that I feel weird about believing in God. It makes me scrunch up my face a bit. I just got angry before reading this topic, though. There was also lust and judgement involved. No coincidence, eh?

I recently spoke to a very spiritual man (an American Christian), and I told him that I do not love God.
He showed me that indeed, I do. The love that I have for a better life, he told me, was actually in some way a love for God. The good feelings I had about this better life, he told me, was God whispering to me, having opened the door to let me in. I am to pursue this better life, and trust in God-not man-that it is the right path.

It's just crazy how many conflicting ideas there are in the world, even in common sense. They are not Christian-like, and we remember being raised with these contradictions, wanting to move closer to God and resist the wrong ideas, yet not wanting to hurt out parents' feelings or feel like we have turned the tables in our relationships.

The best we can do is to take it one day a time.

"Giving your life to Jesus" is kind of confusing, I agree.

Think of it this way. Since the time of Adam and Eve, God has given us the choice to choose Him or not to choose Him, which can also be thought of as having faith or belief that their is indeed a God. It is that faith that we need to have to begin our relationship with God, because then we have acknowledged in our minds and hearts that God exists.

Once one has faith and belief, than we realize that we are human and one day we will die, each of us (I don't mean to sound morbid) and that there will be an afterlife. We each choose on earth if we will spend our earthly lives in a relationship with God and whether we want to be with God forever.

We know from God's Word that "God so loved the world, that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that who ever believes in Him will have eternal life".

So, God already loves you and everyone, it is then us who must choose if we want God.

Read Romans 5 and 6. It describes what happens to each of us when we are saved. We call it being 'saved' or 'salvation' because we have been saved from the eternal death of being separated from God, which is spiritual death not physical death of course. So spiritually we have been saved from a life of sin and the sinful desires that only make us wanting more and more, never being satisfied and never finding true love which only a perfect God can give us and show us. We have also been saved by Jesus Christ from eternal death.

Let me know if you have any questions about Romans 5 and Romans 6.

That is why it is important to read the Bible for yourself, so each of us knows what God's Word says.

Jesus says many times in scripture, "was it not said ... " talking about the Old Testament of the Bible. Jesus expects us to know.

I found this on the internet and am pasting it below, interesting huh?

New Testament, referencing Old Testament

But He answered and said, "It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’" (Matthew 4: 4, NKJV, c.f. Luke 4:4)

"So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD." (Deuteronomy 8:3)

New Testament, referencing Old Testament

Jesus said to him, "It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.’" (Matthew 4:7; cf. Luke 4:12)

"You shall fear the LORD your God and serve Him, and shall take oaths in His name." (Deuteronomy 6:13)

New Testament, referencing Old Testament

And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: "The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." (Luke 4:17-19)

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn." (Isaiah 61:1-2)

(Deuteronomy 24:1-4)

Mark 4:11-13, Luke 8:10)

And He said, "Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ "Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;
lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return and be healed." (Isaiah 6:9-10)

New Testament, referencing Old Testament

He answered and said to them, "Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? "For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ (Matthew 15:3, 4; cf. Mark 7:10)

Thank you as you have answered me.
What then about unintentional sin- such as an angry outburst? Or unconscious sin that falls below a person's recognition of the sinful?

Also, do any Eastern Orthodox saints claim to have been perfect in regards to no longer sinning?
This is why Jesus Christ died, so He could conquer sin and death and in return forgive sin because He has already paid the penalty for all of our sin.

In essence what the following verse is saying is that when the Father looks at us, He only see's His Beloved Son and His Son is perfect and always obeys the Father. Jesus literally stands in our place and says "I died for their sins. Their sin penalty has been paid". He is our mediator and stands between us and the Father like a bridge from man to God.

1 John 2:1-2

1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours alone, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Romans 8:34
Who is there to condemn us? For Christ Jesus, who died, and more than that was raised to life, is at the right hand of God--and He is interceding for us.

1 Timothy 2:5
For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,

Hebrews 7:25
Therefore He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.

Jesus has promised us that He will always forgive our sins. Always. Notice in the verse it is NOT us who is faithful and just to forgive, but Jesus Christ, God Himself.

1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
