Ok, here are some questions that have been presented to me in the past few days. I'd DO request that NON CHRISTIANS participate in this as well as CHRISTIANS. IF posts are deleted due to other non christians throwing out an opinion then your better off just deleting the thread.
Why is it that we have been created by an all knowing, all powerful father that we have been given free will? When we do well in they eyes of God, he takes credit for those works, but when we fail or do poorly, we are condemed and blamed?
Why did God sacrifice himself to himself in order to allow hinself to change and rule that he, himself, created?
Matthew 22:37 - Passage Lookup - New International Version ...
Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' Deut. 6.
Matthew 10:28 - Passage Lookup - New International Version ...
Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
1 John 4:18 - Passage Lookup - New International Version ...
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
How does this work? Love him AND fear him, but there is no love in fear
Luke 14:26 - Passage Lookup - New International Version ...
"If anyone comes to me and does not hate his father and mother, his wife and children, his brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot.
This directly contradicts the 10 commandments
Lets say that my mother ends up in hell because she didnt believe. I loved this woman. Would my eternal happiness be affected by the knowledge that she is suffering horribly in eternal hellfire? If there is no pain in heaven or no knowledge of pain, it would be safe to assume that perfect happiness requires perfect ignorance.
Mark 16:17-18
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
I have a cup of liquid draino that I'm offering you to drink. Not a single person would ingest it. Why will you not?
Abraham loved God so much that he was willing to kill his only son Issac stabbing him to death and burning his body on an altar. God himself also used a similar model in Jesus, loving us enough to kill his son for our sins. Do you have children? Would you kill them to prove your love for God if he asked?
Consider the great flood. God had an issue with the buildup of sin in the world. But instead of addressing the inherent flaws in the nature of man, just just drowned them all. Men, women, and children. Obviously once man repopulated the earth, nothing was different due to original sin bearing more sin. What does this say about the character of God and his level of maturity?
