CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm a fighter, not a lover. I have no idea how to go about this. I'm not gonna bring the "I'm an idiot" stuff to the date, but that doesn't mean it's not true and I won't screw it up.

My advice for dates you care about is to go on at least 20 dates you don't care about before dating someone you really like. Would you drive your car for the first time when going for your license or use cursive for the first time when signing your marriage license? Its a matter of being comfortable in the situation your in, which is the key to anything. Forget what I just typed until you are raising your children. Dating is a matter of presenting yourself as being comfortable with yourself. Present yourself to her without apology or desparaging yourself but don't be proud of yourself. Be interested in her and briefly comment on mutual interests you share with her. Be funny/witty/charming if you are or just yourself if you are not. Be yourself, but interested in her. If you ask her questions the whole time she will feel like she's in the Spanish Inquisition, if you tell her how great you are she will get bored and think you are conceited. The trick is balance and agility-to move with where the conversation leads OR good tactful leadership if you are skilled at conversation.

If something goes wrong, don't worry about it! You are not running for president here... it is just a date, and if she likes you then it doesn't matter if you do everything right or not... she will like you anyway. If you screw up, take it graciously and with a sense of humour, and everything will be fine.

I know all the signs and hidden messages that girls use. I'm no stranger to that definitly. The problem is me. I'm just not a fun/cool/hot/attractive person. I wish I could go back and undo asking her out, but oh well, I'm in for the ride now.

Don't be that way. She said yes, obviously you have a chance to be "cool" for her. Just be yourself. If she didn't want to give you a chance, she would have made up an excuse.
