I have heard it said that if it weren't for us Aspies, we'd all be sitting in caves socializing. Many, if not most, inventors were clearly Aspies.

I read something that analyzed Michael Jordan's wealth and then compared it to Bill Gates' wealth and concluded that "Nerds rule! Nerds rule! Nerds rule!"

I believe you are right. We just have to find our niche. I was recruited to the federal government because of my Aspie tendencies (analytical, attention to detail, etc. all super high).
