• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Caty,
You must be so very exhausted in your mind, going through so much.
It would be very hard to read the bible or desire church while having these fears.
Jesus totally understands that and it is not going to change His love for you or His promises to you ever.
It is normal to remember feeling free and normal and want to feel that way again.
Jesus promises to heal the broken hearted and to give us rest.
Jesus knows you want Him and Jesus knows you want peace and rest and freedom.
The Truth makes us free.
Jesus said you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.

True but you said that when we look to our faith that was the devil that is what i was responding to .. I know we are not to put our faith in faith but we are saved by Grace through Faith . What do you define as faith ? In the greek it is usually defined as assent or trust pistis ..or hupostasis”which is the title deed
It may be more benefecial for you to explain what you mean by faith ? This is a suggestion not a correction for the record i think you are a loving person and i am glad that you are helping Caty she deserves it ...

What I mean is the devil will try and do absolutely anything he can to get your eyes off of Christ and His glory. He will get you to look at your sin by reminding you of it, will tell you terrible things about yourself that go against what God says about you, will tempt you to sin, then accuse you if you fall, will get you to look at how good your 'faith' is or if you have the right kind of faith or if you are believing enough. Anything to get your eyes off the glory of our Lord.

Just keep looking to Jesus. Praying for both of you.

Hi Caty,
It is good that the obsessing and fears are less now.
Ocd will try to find another tactic then .
But that is all it is,another tactic. The way ocd works.
It most definately does not mean that God does not love you.
God is not casting you aside.
Jesus will never leave you or forsake you.
You are in His hand and He is not letting you go and you shall never perish.
You are sealed til the day of redemption by the Holy Spirit.
Jesus promises to never leave you or forsake or cast you out.
I pretty much thought I might die in the state I was in,I thought I was hopeless.
I wanted to give up,I just wanted to be normal too.
I was hanging on by a thread,a very weak thread too.
But Jesus was hanging onto me with His love and mercy and compassion and mighty power.I am weak, but He is strong.
Also Jesus is annointed to heal the broken hearted and deliver the captives and set at liberty those who are bruised.
True to His word He did that for me.
He gave me peace and rest.
I did nothing to earn His mercy and healing.
No matter how long I had terror and doubt would never change the fact that Jesus was holding onto to me by His mercy and power.
It is okay if we are weak and scared, because Jesus has all authority and compassion and mercy and All power and is Mighty to save and delights in mercy and will never leave us or forsake us.
Jesus is always true and never fails.
Jesus does heal and does give us rest and peace and healing.
love

Caty, I'm sooo sry for the struggle you go thru. I can't imagen what thats like. I look back at my life thru the OCD and struggle with it, and I still do but when I gave up answering the ?'s, AM I dead? or whatever and just kinda focused my time and energy on trying to ignore it. It got better. The only thing you can do is have a complete shift in the way you think, and tell your feelings. I don't care whether you tell me I'm not saved or I don't believe in God but continue to live for him. When I first got Born Again I had this Zeal to witness and this joy unspeakable, so much that I wanted to Pastor. When the OCD hit All I said to myself is I want to be normal again, I want things the way they were. Thats not the answer. Your going to have to work thru your pain with acceptence and just give it a different approach. Trust me it's hard to accept when you have this renforced fear of God but it will help you. Promise! My best wishes to you.

see, thats what i find ironic is that even though i have times when i like what the heck--forget everything. I still want to live a Christian life (that gives me hope) but what if i am ignorgin these fears (i feel like i need to get past them--or face them) what If the world ends or I die? and I got to hell, & Im not right with God. that scares me.

Caty,
it is good to forget the fears.God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and love and a sound mind.

When we believe in Jesus we have everlasting life.
That life is everlasting and will never ever end.
We are sealed til the day of redemption.
We will never be cast out.
Nothing will snatch us out of Jesus hand and we shall never perish.
Jesus has given us all the measure of faith,we all have it already,in our hearts and spirits.
We have all been given the measure of faith
Jesus will never leave us or forsake us.
We are sealed by the Holy Spirit til the day of redemption.
Nothing shall seperate us from the love of Jesus.
Even if our carnal mind doubts it does not change the fact that we have been given the measure of faith,we always believe in our hearts and spirits, the faith has been given.
The gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
We already have been given the gift of faith.
God always rewards those who seek Him.
He will always give good gifts to those who ask Him.
He will always give rest to those who come to Him for rest.
He will always be longsuffering and merciful, and forgiving and compassionate.
Jesus has already paid for us,we are not our own to protect.
Father God has already given us to Jesus, else we would have never come to Jesus, since we came to Jesus He will not cast us out.
We are not our own we are bought with a price, therefore Jesus will let none snatch us out of His hand.
We do not protect ourself,Jesus does since we belong to Jesus.
Jesus makes all things new and not ourselves.
Jesus is the Good Shepherd who leads us to still Waters and restores our soul and heals the broken hearted.

A smoking flax He will not snuff out and a bruised reed He will not quench.

Jesus is not about to let you go,You are a precious gift to Him from Father God.

Just give the fears up to God and trust Him. I know you are afraid and sometimes I am afraid of God as well. I mean not even afraid, but terrified. But you have to believe God concerning Jesus and that you are clothed in His righteousness and He will never let you go. As well as being holy and just He is also LOVE.

I just CANNOT get over the blasphemey scripture, I have those things in my head and sometime I compulsivly say it because im trying to calm myself down by saying other stuuf and I dont even realize that i say that stuff. I hope God loves me and wants me even though I feel like this. But to me that blasphemey scriptures kinda cancels out all the other ones, (like---even if you do confess your sins) you still can be forgiven. I dont see how other people, dont see it that way?!?!

Caty,
Jesus loves you and NOTHING shall seperate you from His love.
Absolutely Nothing.
Jesus means what He says.
Jesus said he that cometh to Me I will in no wise cast out.
Jesus means every Word He speaks.
Jesus is Truth.
Absolutely NOTHING in this world will cancel His promises to us.
The bible says God has never forsaken those who seek Him.
Never never never
His Word shall not pass away.
Jesus said I will never leave you or forsake you.
No conditions and Jesus always tells the Truth.
You have been given to Jesus by Father God.
You are not your own you are bought with a price.
Jesus Word will not pass away and nothing can cancel His promises ,He means every word He speaks and Jesus is Truth.
I am so sorry that you are hurting Caty.((hugs))

Jesus came to heal the broken hearted and deliver the captives and set at liberty those who are bruised.

Jesus says come to Me ALL ye who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

1 Peter 5:7
Casting ALL your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

John 14:16
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
27My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
30 I and my Father are one.

John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.

Galations 3

2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

Romans 10

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

John 6

28Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Romans 9

30What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.

31But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone; 33As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Romans 8

31What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

32He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
33Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor

principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor

height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from

the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

These words will never pass away and NOTHING CAN CANCEL THEM OUT.

It's like I have no desire to come here, I feel like I'm losing my 'belief', what if I have committed the uf-sin and God is slowly giving me over to a lie, what if this is it for me and soon I'll never want anything to do with Jesus ( I have little to no desire now) I just want to be back the way I was. I cant say that I believe anymore because I don't think I do & that makes me cry because I want too. I'm scared, but not as scared as I should be.

We're talking about two entities here.

God and satan.

Read your original statement and tell yourself who says those things. And ask yourself weather you feel this angst because of childish feelings of want and not get. Or weather God is REALLY abandoning you.

Honestly..... read it as if you didn't write it, and as if you would like to help that person.

Obviously, God would never say those things. satan has found a chink in your armor and is exploiting it. You're listening to satan, and even repeating his words. This means that to some extent, you're accepting his words as logical. As long as you do, God will have trouble reaching you. Water and oil.

Logic won't/can't help you out of this. You/we are powerless alone against satan. Only the Lord can defend us from it.

First..... Pray, "In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, begone satan."

Second.. Bless some oil and anoint your house.

Third..... Into your closet and pray for forgiveness and protection from evil thoughts.

Fourth... Rejoice..... The Lord will come to you and replace those thoughts with good ones. And replenish your life.

The whole key here is.....Action (the easy part) and faith (the hard part).
