• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I lie, i steal, and demons torment me. and yes im drunk as i write this and im 18 years olb. i doubt my faith in God, I doubt Jesus, i deserve to be shot...
We all deserve that. Salvation, comes from the honest desire to do the right thing. Do we ever actually do the right thing, for the right reason? Possibly, but rarely. One thing I find helpful. Do it a day at a time. Live in the present. The past is gone and the future is not granted. Live in the present, and remember that God is with you. Before you know it,the day is done and you have behaved yourself.

If you are seeing demons, then your life is at a crossroads spiritually. The devil knows that you are weak right now and wanting to return to God. He wishes to destroy your faith in God, so you must resist him. Just as xBladesx said, you have to tell a demon to leave in Jesus' name. For most demons, it is Jesus' name that will drive them away.

Once you have banished a demon, you can pray for God to send an angel to protect you while you sleep. If you have accepted Jesus as your savior, you cannot be harmed by demons, but they can scare the willies out of you. However, there is nothing physical you can do to make them leave, so don't hurt yourself again. It is only the name of Jesus that will do so.

I just want to add here that a person could be very spiritually alive and active and have problems with demons. I never have, but have read of accounts elsewhere. So it doesn't mean your walk is not good with God. It means you are a child of God and being harrassed.

There was one time when something strange happened to me. I was a new believer sitting in the pew and had this feeling that there was a blade over my neck swinging back and forth. I think I knew what it was right away, a sort of thing to try to cause fear, but it didn't work. Though I have many fears I just want to remind you that He (God) who is in you (God - Holy Spirit) is stronger than he (satan) who is in the world. I take comfort in that verse.

How are you doing?

Love, tapero

Hey AmericanHardcore, try to keep up your chin. God's with you as long as you're Christian. The only thing that will hinder your salvation is either giving it up permanently or blaspheming Holy Spirit and it is clear you haven't done that yet.

Keep up with the walk, matey! And eat nuts everyday, nuts is good for your skin and mental health, ya know.

ok after a short nap i woke up and i made a vow to not touch a drop of booze today, and see if that helps. Wish me luck.
Throw it away. The booze market machinery is ridiculously hyped.

And it's a depressant. It's making you worse. You know that ethically/morally, but it's true even medically/physically.

I know, now gotta find something else to do to get your mind off what it could do for you. What could it be? Where could you go to connect with people instead of a substance?

My friend, you will have struggles with faith. You do not deserve to be shot.

So I pray
Father God, Creator, Comfort in times of trial. Surround this young man with your loving arms. Amen

Have you talked to a doctor about your depression? I eventually did and they found out I actually had a hormonal imbalance that was causing me to be in a major funk.

When you are feeling depressed, what is it like? Maybe if you tell us some of the details of what you're facing, we can come up with suggestions on what might help you feel better in that moment. Though, it might frustrate you if it doesn't work, but perhaps just knowing there is a list of ideas can help you figure out what would work for you?

As for saying you don't deserve to be called a Christian, do you even want to be one? No one is saying you can't ever doubt your beliefs or that you have to be on fire all the time. We all go through periods where it's a lot more blah and any sort of belief. And that doesn't make you a bad person in any way.
