  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't care if you think abortion is wrong.

As the mother of two children adopted through the foster care system, who yes btw were both special needs, I'd have to disagree. See avatar picture to see just how "perfect" they are.

.

I never said that no one adopts them, and that is great that you did. But you have to understand your the minority, so are my parents for the fact that they adopted an interacial girl.

I just want to address one of your points. Even if God takes the life of a fetus, we are not God. We are not the Creator. We should not be the ones that end life.

could someone please explain to me how abortion is protected under the fourth amendment? the Roe V. Wade decision is perhaps one of the most disturbing supreme court decisions in US history. How our founding document could be interpreted the way the court ruled is beyond me.

we are also all former eggs and sperm... does that make periods or male masturbation the same as "killing"?
a women's period and male nocturnal emissions happen naturally. I don't see how you could draw a conclusion like this. especially since we aren't a cannot develope into a complete human until egg and sperm come together.

abortions happen naturally too. of all fertilised eggs, only 11% will ever be carried to term.

the point is, it should be up to individual states to decide the legality of abortion. that being said, I'm all for legislation banning abortion nationwide.
that whole "abortions happen in other countries too" just kinda bounced off your parochialism, didn't it?

The cognitive dissonance in that statement actually made me laugh. Wow.

miscarriage and abortion are two different issues. one happens accidentally and one happens forcefully.

I cannot control what other nations decide on the legality of abortion. I feel a greater responsibility to my own country because I am a citizen of the USA. It would be great to combat abortion worldwide, but I feel as though we have to take care of it on the home front first.

There isn't a human being involved in abortions either
I consider a human being to be in existence when its genome is complete and it is growing. That you choose other subjective benchmarks is your problem. Sadly its also the problem of thousands of killed human beings as well.

first, I'd like to see Roe V. Wade overturned. This would bring power back to the states to determine the legality of abortion. Second, with good time, I would like to see an amendment to the constitution protecting the rights of the unborn. It took federal action for the civil rights movement. It will take federal action to ensure the unborn get their chance at life in all 50 states.

So... the instant the egg is fertilised, you consider it a human being?

Yes.

Why is that wrong? That's when a human being begins. When we start to grow as an individual organism.

I don't get why there's any dispute about this, especially coming from the science community. Life begins at conception. This is a truism!
