Actually about 40%, And I never would advertise that I was a gun owner if I owned one.Half of all households in America could call themselves a potential target since that's how many have guns already. But if you don't want to be specifically singled out, don't advertise to people that you're a gun owner.

I used to own a bunch of guns. I ended up in a situation where I could not store them so I end up having my lawyer dispose of them.
After 5 or so years of being gun-free, I became more sympathetic to the gun control crowd. I had no guns but I felt pretty safe anyway with 911 only minutes away, where I live so easy for police to mop up the criminals.
Recently I heard a question asked.....Who do you call when the police are criminals? Then I read a quote by Washington the said (paraphrase) There should be a rebellion every 20 years or so.
That made me think of the context the Constitution was written in. We need law-abiding citizens to own guns because we have a right to self-defense. Whether it's from a criminal or a totalitarian government, we need to be able to overthrow the government if need be. That is what Washington was saying.
I don't think we are anywhere near the point where we need to rise up, but we need to be able to if we get some Fascist in office suspends the Constitution or tries to dissolve our rights.
We have 2,000 laws about guns. No more gun laws......Agree or disagree......

Do you consider Japan, South Korea, Tawain and Singapore to be free? Because those countries all have less then one civilian gun per 100 people. The Czech Republic, which is famous for it's gun culture, has 12.5 per 100 persons. The US has 120 per 100 persons.Stable, free countries? I guess that depends on one's defination of freedom.
Arguable. The founders wanted the country to rely on the militia to protect the country instead of a standing army. That's why the federal government was prevented from restricting the right to bear arms. But most of the original 13 states didn't have a right to bear arms in their own state constitutions at the founding.And we are armed because that's what our founders wanted.

"2nd amendment well regulated militia" worked in 17th century, they don’t belong in 21st century.
Even by your own statement she is now incarcerated which tells me she faced consequences for that action. Most of the time unless a gun death is either a suicide or in some cases a justified homicide ( in self defense and/or defense of others charges WILL be brought In some cases quite a few cases actually charges are brought for example if someone is killed ( a suspect in the commission of a felony and there is one or more other perps involved they can actually face first degree murder charges for that other suspect's death ( even if they had not intention of killing or even harming anyone. It is not as if homicides are not punished. Now, there ARE times when a gun death is ruled to be a COMPLETE accident, but there are fairly few of those cases. Most "accidents" are either the result of negligence by the gun owner. Moreover, the requirements for safety vary by state.But there is no requirement or test of responsibility/training to purchase/own guns. A few months back, near my hometown, a toddler got a hold of a gun in a car and shot himself in his head. His mother was in the car with him. He’s dead and his mother is in prison. It’s tragic and and at great cost for his parents to keep a gun for “protection”.
I’m not confident that responsible gun owners are anywhere near enough to instill confidence in the beloved second amendment.
A crime problem, yet there have been times where there were MORE violent crime. The difference is that today news travels faster, but in reality most people never engage in gun violence. There are 300 million guns if legal gun owners in the USA were the problem we would know it.For me jt was because "never again"

Funny you should mention Japan sense they have very few guns, but one of the highest suicide rates. Considering that 2/3 of gun deaths are actually suicide that alone says something.So you have valuables. How is a gun different?
