Yea, but it's not some rule where if you break it you go to hell. If you forget to pray tomorrow, what are the consequences? Have you forsaken god? Of course you haven't, you simply go back to praying the day after and it's as if nothing happened. So what's the difference if it's aday or a year? It's not going to matter to god...he's "timeless" after all, right?

The amazing part is that with a believer in God, prayer is constant. God forbid I want a pearl trampled. Here goes anyway. The thoughts of a believer in God are constantly with God. All the thoughts of a believer in God are on God.

Because my life wasn't very good before I started going to Church. There is a God sized hole without him and other believers.

Sadly, this is an example of the modern message of the gospel, the one that has been so watered down and compromised, comprised only of "God loves you and as a wonderful plan for your life. Come to Jesus and He will give you peace, joy and happiness" has literally led millions into a false conversion. The whole counsel of God - His holiness, His righteousness, His justice, His wrath against all sin on Judgment Day and the reality of hell - has been abandoned by the preaching of the modern gospel message of life enhancement. Now God is only seen as some benevolent Divine Butler, who is there in the Heavens to appease us and wait upon us hand and foot. In effect, they have committed idolatry and created a false god to suit their sins. And it is this false gospel that has been preached from behind so many pulpits that has resulted in what we now call ex-Christians. But according to Scripture, there really isn't such a person in the first place. A true and genuine Christian will never turn away from the faith and forsake God, only the false convert would do that. And that is biblical to its very core.

That's not really the same.

That is exactly the same. It is exactly the request in your OP. I realize it may not be deliberate on your part, but that's what it is anyway. And in that light it becomes a way of you spreading your atheism. Hopefully its blatant enough that it wouldn't fool anyone into trying it.

Another poster on this forum made a similar thread where he challenged all non-believers to attend church one Sunday.

A couple of hours one Sunday, and 8,760 hours, as in one year, does not strike me as being altogether on a par.

Without a very serious financial inducement, I find it difficult to imagine why I would spend a whole year doing anything I wouldn't otherwise do.

Is that all you are going to say concerning what I said? Why do you believe what I said is rubbish? Please elaborate.

The intent of that post is not to accuse non-believers of being close minded, it is to encourage all people to make use of what already is. To have courage to express the truth. To speak openly and honestly. Not be afraid.

Since when do people fear the consequences of what they say online?

First of all, no one can really know the spiritual state of a person, whether or not he /she is saved. We can pass a judgment on actions and be time wasting "fruit inpsectors", but that isn't productive.

A few more things. Who are these "millions" who have been led into "false conversions"? Can you provide that data?

Lastly, sure, a real Christian can abandon the faith and still be saved, because that is God's grace. And real Christians abandon the faith all the time, for a few months, sometimes for years. This doesn't mean they weren't real converts. It just means they're searching for answers to hard questions or they are simply doing what they want to do. In either case, this doesn't mean false convert. We shouldn't pass judgment on their standing with God.

You're implying that certain teachings / preachers are responsbile for millions on false converts, but you would have to be God to know who is a false convert and who is not.

What upsets me is that a suffering brother came to this thread and stated he wants to come back to the faith, and you implied that his reasons for wanting to return to the faith are invalid!

ah, it warms the cockles of my heart to see such a kindly atheist expressing such tender concern. NAAAWWT

You'd rather I had lied?

Gee, theo...I hate to be the one to break this to you, most of us figure it out by the time we reach adulthood. I'll explain...

The world doesn't care about you or your troubles. It's literally filled with people who will bump into you, and never express any care or concern for you at all. It's a cold and impersonal place where everyone devours to survive and cares for themselves and theirs. Sure, a few people in your life genuinely do care for you...but chances are even amongst them...they're fleeting. Best to hold tightly to those who stick around, because they too could be gone tomorrow.

Now I know that's a bitter pill to swallow, but please trust me when I say this, you're better offknowing now. It only gets better from here.

And there ya have it, the creedo of an atheist. This is a grand look into philosophy ...

It doesn't really have a thing to do with being atheist. It's a matter of understanding reality.

If you disagree then just answer me this theo....

Out of the 6 billion + people living on this planet, how many of them care about you and your problems? Not the ones that just pretend to care (like on the internet) but actually care?

I know my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is a love you don't know. So yes, being an atheist has everything to do with this philosophy of yours. My philosophy would NEVER allow me to take someone who is obviously hurting in the Faith (or anything else) and tell them that their life was a mess first and they just missed that part, so really their efforts were in vain. Fortunately my Sister here still has enough conviction to shake that off, but its a pretty hearltess thing for you to do.

On the other hand I would tell her that she walked out of God's protection and felt that, yet He is still within reach. So this is evidence for what you say does not exist, and further, she has already stated that her own experience validates what I'm saying, rather than your creed.

Aaaaand that's a wrap :holy:
