I am sorry. You ok? :sorry:

I dunno. I'm still trying to decide whether or not to call the ambulance.

ETA: Bit of dark humor there from my drinking days where you'd wake up so hungover you didn't know whether or not to call an ambulance or drive yourself to the ER.

ETAA: GOD has placed some things on my heart. I was sitting in church tonight and I randomly opened my bible like I do after I unzip the leather case and it opened up to none other than this:

20 ¶ A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the
increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 ¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall
eat the fruit thereof.
22 ¶ Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the
LORD.

23 ¶ The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
24 ¶ A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend
that sticketh closer than a brother.

I am letting you know I love it. I have always been a night owl and I applied specifically for third shift at the hotel.

I am thinking I will be sad when I must leave it some day in order to take care of kids when I get married in the future. I am well aware that shift is not compatible with raising a family. All the more reason to enjoy it now I guess! Haha.

I am asking how you keep busy when you aren't checking in guests. I had the chance to apply for that shift a few months ago at a local hotel, but I'm a night owl who loves the daytime too much.

I would LOVE that job!

(I think :sorry: )

(I mean: I am sure I would LOVE that job! :sorry:)

I am sure you would! I am at work right now at the front desk. It has only just quieted down. I am eating pizza and I spend usually half my shift online. There is literally nothing else to do. I mean....they want me here to check in people if they come up, run manager's reports and actually run the night audit work, but that takes up only a small part of my shift. So I do a lot of online reading and posting at forums. :)

Except for friday and saturday nights. Good grief it gets busy (It's a Radisson and we have 405 rooms and we are right across from an airport) and you deal with a lot of unsavory characters. But it's still a job I treasure. I get paid good and I get to enjoy time online and I get to work at night. I really really like it.

I am fortunate to have access to the internet. I can go through my emails, talk about TV shows on various forums, read fanfiction, chat with my friends an yahoo messenger.

Don't get me wrong I do work! lol When I get in at 10:30 pm I can have anywhere from 2 arrivals left to 40 arrivals coming in yet. It just depends on what groups are staying with us and how packed we are. Our hotel is literally connected to an Oneida casino so I get people coming up at all times of the night or early morning- the poker tables close at 4am- to get a room.) And with an airport across the street lots of corporate groups/conferences stay with us. During the wintertime I get a lot of people who have no reservation but don't want to drive home on the icy roads after a night in the casino. So yeah, especially friday and saturday nights. It's busy! (often times with drunks- yuck!- especially when we have wedding parties staying with us)

But during the week? On a tuesday night? I can spend maybe 2 hours on actual work in my 8 hour shift and the rest of the time I just need to fill. I like it though...I mean how often does one get to enjoy time online and get paid to do it?

Not a lot of people want these night shift but it is just perfect for me! :)

I am thinking that your posts remind me so much of the hustle and bustle of travelling. I love going to airports and I love hotels; perhaps because I relate it to travelling and seeing new places.. or perhaps, subconsciously, I see possibilties in meeting people from diverse places and backgrounds and it makes me all :ok: inside. :)
