42 years together and it's become too much to handle now

NO , IT HASN'T JUST BECOME TOO MUCH TO HANDLE!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem very angry about this. Maybe you should split for awhile and go camping or do something else you like to do to recharge your patience.

Great reply...I won't be around to bother anyone anymore about this..
Please don't listen to him. He has a lot of negative and off-the-wall things to say to people, but it is not typical of the feelings of this forum. That's what the forum is here for -- to support and advise people with issues in their marriage.

Though I agree that some of the things he says are off the wall, sometimes people just don't know the right things to say, and are trying to help but end up not saying something that offends the listener. I'm the same way, sometimes I have a great response, and othertimes I just put my foot in my mouth and dig it deeper and deeper. I don't see anything wrong with what autum said personally, sounds like he was trying to give a helpful suggestion. But that's just my impression.

You're probably right, and I probably worded that inappropriately. I just didn't want fisherman to think he was not welcome to post his issues here, or that we were brushing him off and telling him to get lost.

If there is nothing you can do and you have lived in this all these years then Im afraid you will just have to put up with it. You obviously love your wife otherwise you would of left her.
Can you not clean one room out for yourself so you can put in that room what you love to have in a room. Thats what I would do.
It must be very difficult for you. If it was my husband behaving this way I would wait until he goes to work and start throwing out things without telling him. He wouldnt know.
You have many options suggested by other readers.

Be strong. You are the head of the household even though women today believe they are.
