I have come to the conclusion that I am praying for myself anymore. I have prayed a personal prayer request for the last time today.

It's good to be unselfish but we have a personal relationship with God through Jesus. Are you not a child of God? What child would never ask anything from his father? God is far more caring and loving than any natural parent. You will be robbing yourself.

Interesting. I'd have to know more of what you're talking about to discern if it's biblical or not. As for me, I stopped asking people for things. Saints before have done it with success. And I plan on being one of them.
