I know there are cats at many monasteries. I’m not sure how it works though with pets from prior to someone becoming a monastic.

You're my kind of guy, OP.....very cool.
if I were to become a monk in the future, would I be able to bring my cat to the monastery with me to share with the monks that I live with?

Just as long as it isn't like Dave Lister's cat.

One time, I believe it was Hammi, in a pic on Facebook.. The cat was climbing down a ladder, that was against the building. Best comment called it "The Ladder Of Feline Descent"
Love those posts

I verified the title of the art song by Samuel Barber, it is "The Monk and His Cat" (1954). The words were adapted from an 8th-century text by an anonymous Irish monk. Who adapted the words? W.H. Auden. Good luck!

I have a female monastic friend on FB who posts quite a bit about her cat. :) I always enjoy those posts.

And this is just a random pic of someone I don't know, but I like the image.
