If Jesus made it all, they originated with Him. Simply having various pagans have some clue as to basic right and wrong does not mean they originated it.

Because "day" in chapter 1 consisted of an evening and a morning signifying a 24 hour period of time, but "day" in chapter 2 is an indefinite period of time, as in "back in the day".

Genesis 2 is not describing 24 hour days, it is describing events that occurred back in those days.

Hi, I actually agree perfectly with each of your statements but one phrasing (example -- I think the "day" in Genesis chapter one are each 24 hour days, real days, literal).

The only phrasing you have we see differently is only the phrasing "there is no reason to assume there was" -- in that it seems to try to say that one presumption: time gaps are all zero time, is somehow more scripturally valid than another presumption(s): time gaps could be of various lengths unknown, in this chapter on this particular narrow question (not other questions, just that one alone).

But, this is truly important only when the faith of an individual somewhere is affected. And not in itself. Not of any actual significance itself for believers in any ultimate sense, really -- because we both agree totally that God created all that is.

Everything.

Such questions, speculations about ancient history in small details, only have any some more serious significance just only when the faith of a 'young' believer (of uncertain or untested) faith is affected, and not otherwise.

It's good for those individuals to know that more than one God-believing understanding of this side question is around, and that this is NOT the basis for real faith, either way....

The basis, foundation, for faith is instead as Christ our Lord told us in His Words in Matthew chapter 7 v 24-27.

So, I only talk about Genesis chapter 1 time periods, which are trivial to our salvation in every way, solely when it can help a young believer, and on the internet, that is going to be very often.

What do we truly believe, the basis for our faith that will save us???

Ok, but are you doing "love your neighbor as yourself" and "love your enemy"? I ask because for most people these are really full time tasks which they have not yet achieved fully, and also part of the reason Christ taught us so many specific situations about how to love our neighbor as ourself, since it helps to have guidance to do what He said to do.

Amen! We learn from Christ we must choose to dwell in Him -- John chapter 15 -- and that *if* we do, by our choice to remain in Him, then we can bear fruit, but that if we do not bear fruit, we will instead be "cast into the fire". As we read fully through the gospels, not piecemeal, but full reading all the way through, we encounter such passages as Matthew 7:24-27, and we realize that we indeed must work to do what He said, and that means we must also "repent", as He taught, when we fail, and that's the process, of being changed, through our following Him, our repentance, and His work on us, over time, so that over time we become different than the "old man" our "old self". We are not already perfect in that we often do not look to Him, and may not pray as He taught, and then sins tempt us soon, and all of us fall down, and then have to get back up -- repentance. So, our walk isn't already-perfection, but real walking, effort, following, and thus progressing, on the path He teaches us, towards perfection, over time. Abiding in Him, we can follow Him, even from the very imperfect place we each are at. Recently, by learning more of what He taught, I have learned I need to look to Him, keep my eyes on Him.
