Medical science, namely Gerontology is currently making efforts to expand our lifespan. In scripture one example of Prayer having an influence on a persons lifespan is Isaiah 38:5 where God added 15 years to Hezekiah’s life.

So God has added time in the past. he can do it again.

“Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭38‬:‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It seems that if we eat what we are designed to eat (no alcohol, no smoking, no drugs, no caffeine, no industrial "foods" and "drinks", no or low carbs...) and live without a constant stress, in a healthy environment, we can naturally live in health till 120 years or so.

The agricultural society (wheat, veggies, alcohol, sugars, diseases and viruses, hard field labor...) shortened our health/life span to be about 80 years and the modern life style (ultra processed food, heavy medication, pollution...) is shortening the health span of common people to be 40 or even less.

The natural limit of 120 years in our ideal natural state can be possibly prolonged by science. However, if we do not take care about the basics like the proper nutrition or sleep, no expensive supplement or therapy will help us to stay young.

In a balanced environment which we have never seen or have records of, where Adam lived over 900 years we can not visualize what that would have been like, let alone visualize living that long. If we had additional knowledge of Adams environment it could help transform our current environment. I sometimes see imaginative representations of what it may have been like. And there are very pretty natural places on earth. But trying to imagine an Eden like environment that could support a very long life is creative.

Today the only way to achieve a balanced environment would be to live in space. Living on earth we will always be exposed to manmade toxins. We could stop right now by turning off our utilities, stop driving, grow our own food, throw away our cell phones and computers and the list goes on. Live like our ancestors did but that seems a little hard.
In reality it's like Myst said our nutrition is key along with a little physical activity but you have to be willing to search for information and not rely on what the cabal is telling you. You have to be open to new information and to critically think of the validity. You may not live to 120 but your quality of life would be much better when you age. Peace

When somebody gets the nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress and environment right, there are some other things the current science can help with like UV filters, stem cells rejuvenation, red light therapy, plasma therapy, specific senescent cells targeting, hyaluronic acid supplementation, possibly some NAD boosters or CD38 inhibitors...

But without the basics, its just throwing money out of the window.

Last thing God said is our lifespan will be 70 years‘ without modern medicine…. Abraham and others lived to around 150 years. The reason why it’s defclining in USA is drugs, COVID, wars. Only a temporary decline . You know it’s not what others really want- the longer life of our elder ones. Economically speaking, unless could work longer. This is how certain people want to live forever, not taking into account the lord, salvation and real eternal life.

Its actually said in a song by king David. Its not a God's decree of any kind, its just David's observation of the people around him (i.e. in an agricultural society).

Based on the natural length of telomeres, we can live about 120 years (in full health), its our today's natural species' potential, if everything else (nutrition, sleep, environment) is ideal.

Modern medicine frequently just prolongs a miserable life, its not bringing health. However, scientific research can be used to renew telomeres and other biological markers of aging, but this research is just in its beginnings.

That is literally the opposite of what happened in reality. Life expectancy has steadily increased since the iron age and is still increasing.

Life expectancy is something totally different than life span or health span, even though it sounds similar and has some things in common.

The average life expectancy went up simply because the child mortality is much lower, epidemics and wars are not so intense, because of vaccination etc. It does not have much to do with the quality of nutrition or with the general health of the population, which is decreasing in an alarming rate.

And what would be the definition of "life span" (which I'm pretty sure nobody except you uses as anything besides a synonym to life expectancy)?

It's a matter of average length of life. In former times, a lot of younger people died, with a few very old people surviving beyond their 50s. Now, the average is up, partially for the reasons you mention. But I'm now in my late 70s. Recently, I had to have a pacemaker implanted. Before this, I would have died relatively soon. But here I am, now with bits of technology shoring up an ankle, my corneas, and my heart. So I get around, see well enough to drive without glasses, and continue to live.

I like it. Eventually, something is going to get me, but I'm in a very happy marriage, have wonderful children and grandchildren, and making more money now than when I retired. God's been very good to me; I'm grateful and intend to enjoy it and glorify Him for His gifts to me.

Its so refreshing to read a happy and grateful person, these days. Many people just complain and focus on problems or on what they do not have.

Truth is, I have pretty much everything I want. I'm hard to buy gifts for. Over the years, I accumulated tools, cameras, books and gadgets to the point that I can amuse myself as I will. A 57 T-bird would be nice, but I'm too old for a mid-life crisis.

But I'm now in my late 70s.
Are you on medicine? I am for diabetes mid 60s here. My mom died a few years ago and she was kept a live with medication but her quality of life was dog poop. Praise God for technology! I'm glad you are living a blessed life. What Myst is putting out about health and other threads about health are educational and has the latest science that doctors don't know about. At least the VA doctors are still trying to push statins on me.

I can understand how Covid might cause a temporary small reduction in life expectancy. And I understand, obviously, that drug abuse shortens lives. But I no connection to "wars" - I believe very very few Americans have died in wars in the last 40 to 50 years. And I think you are overlooking the biggest factors - diet and lack of exercise.

I have high blood pressure, which is well-controlled by meds. Otherwise, nothing.
My wife has high blood pressure also, but we are trying to get healthy by using some methods on the health threads. Our diseases are reversable. Peace.

For a 72 year old, I'm fortunate to be a pretty healthy old dude. I take no prescription medication whatsoever. At my yearly wellness exam last June, my BP was 124/68. My BMI was 20.99. All my labs were in the normal range. My HDL, which is the good cholesterol, was 116. The desirable level is 60 or greater. I had a hernia repaired in 2015, with no recurrence. About 2 years ago, I had outpatient surgery to repair a hole in my left retina. That's now resolved. I know I have cataracts (who at my age doesn't?) Eventually I'll need surgery. But I can still drive at night without problems. And last summer, when I renewed my driver's license, I passed the vision test easily without needing glasses. So as of now, it's all systems go. At least so far. :)
