I choose what turns out to be the current popular male choice; I am male and I only hug close friends and family.
last time I hugged someone was last night, one of my co-workers(and my younger step sister*) who goes to college a few towns away is going back this weekend and I'll be up in VA, so that was the last time I'll see her til Thanksgiving week.
*No we're not actually related by blood, but I view her and her older sister as my kid sisters as her older sister is a lot like I was when I was a younger man trying to find my way during college personality, temperament and mindset wise....

, I slowly proceed to akwardly tap the person's back - I blame my parents
Patting people's backs. I sometimes give half hugs as well. I just remembered last year one of my friends tortured me about giving half hugs and said she'd hug me until I hugged back right I wasn't allowed to give her a half hug. Another friend from that country also asked if she could kiss my cheek goodbye (it's in her country's culture). I said no.
