Have any of you ever contracted HPV? HPV is a kind of very common skin virus that affects peoples' crotchall region. It is transmitted through genital to genital contact. It is estimated that around 85 percent of women will get one form of the virus during their life. :groupray:

Anyway, I am looking at a funny spot on my skin and feeling a little anxious. I'm not sure what I should do. Do any of you have any experience with this or advice for me?

Strange thread.

If you have valid reasons for thinking that you might have contracted this disease (there are a lot of great books and online resources available too to help you out here) get it checked out with a doctor, and refrain from sexual contact. Your symptoms of 'a funny looking spot' on your skin could be any number of things, you shouldn't jump to conclusions.

No.

It can also cause cancer, just FYI.

Anyway, I am looking at a funny spot on my skin and feeling a little anxious. I'm not sure what I should do. Do any of you have any experience with this or advice for me?

My advice to you is to make an appointment with a gynecologist so you can have a physical exam and a pap smear.

The OP is female? Why did I think they were male?

I don't know. They don't have a gender icon. I guess it would be pretty funny if the OP was male and called to make an appointment with the hoo-hoo doctor.

You do not have to get it from sexual contact, you can get it from your clothes rubbing against you in that area. Do you research about this, do not listen to people who do not know what they are talking about.

My best friend's husband, who did have a few sexual partners before they got married found out a few weeks before their wedding that he had the asymptomatic variety of HPV. He never NOT used a condom, but it was transmitted anyhow. It was very scary, but I'm so happy he got tested so they can treat it.

It's scary to think how common it is though...

Eh, if you're really worried then go see a doctor. It's not something you just wake up with, so unless you've been... Never mind. Go see a doctor.

Go to a doctor if you are worried
If you feel as though you are worried
About getting this virus.
