Last week I had a tradesman in my house, a nice local family fellow. He's been here before and told me he suffers some mild hyper disorder, and we seem to get along well enough. We've even bumped into each other down the street and had a 5 minute chat etc, without any religious/spiritual discussion.

So last week I felt to ask him if he believed in God, he said "yes but not the Jesus God". I said nothing then a few minutes later I said "I have no problem with the Jesus God, and mentioned how I notice Jesus gets blamed for the wickedness of man" which he agreed somewhat. I then mentioned how Jesus was the only man to live free from Sin.

Anyhow that conversation faded and later when he was talking to me he used the devil hand sign repeatedly even pointing at me with it as he rambled on about situations in his life because he knew I would listen, and I did until he got angry about the situation he was telling me about and was projecting it at me. I reproved him on the anger but didn't say anything about the devil hand sign which I don't at all welcome in my home or my property.

I felt he may have taken it personally so let it go, I didn't want to be too critical and noticed he's a bit of a potential loose cannon. I wonder how others would deal with this sort of thing in a Christian way without ignoring it or upsetting ?

Well i would let Him know early on that i am a Christian.. And then leave it up to him to ask me questions or start a conversation about it.. You might even leave a Bible in a position around where he was working in your house so he could perhaps see it and work out that you are a Christian without needing you to say it..

But he probably already knows you are a Christian because you told him that Jesus was the only Sinless person.. Saying that would be a dead give away to anyone that you are a Christian of some type..

So for now you got to play it by ear.. meaning you have to decide what to do as things develop.. He may start to become more opposed to you, if so avoid him.. It's up to you.. Pray to God about this and pray for him too.. Maybe the Holy Spirit might start working on his conscience.. And if God is willing you might be in the right place at the right time to plant a few seeds in His mind..

It is good that you proceeded gently with him. Remember however that he obviously has a temper problem and if he can not control it, you could be in danger. Also, it is obvious that he does not respect your belief in Jesus Christ and going as far as to disrespect you in your own home with satanic gestures. This would imply to me that he is being lead by satan, if not a satanic follower. If I were you, I would either not call him back into my home, or be right upfront and tell him you did not appreciate him being disrespectful in your home and that you will not allow it in the future. Remember that great is He who is in you then he that is in the world. You can take a stand for Jesus and your faith without being mean or rude. If this does not work, then have nothing to do with him.

Eph_5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

Jud 1:22 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Jud 1:23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

I pray this helps

Suffering from a type of hyper disorder ,and the body language does not sound good.
The God he worships may not be God or even a diety it may be Satan.
I don't know how they hand sign but it sounds like he wanted you to get his point,in the conversation.

Keep him in your prayers ,but keep him out of your house would be my thought.

Thank you that is excellent advice, I feel a need to identify my faith to others but know its best done subtly, some people just wont accept it though I've found no matter how hard they try to be cordial

Thanks for the advice, encouragement, prayer in dealing with this and in speaking up. I saw that very clearly he is being led by Satan, but like many in the younger generation (under 40) they think that is normal and even love to hate The Lord, perhaps because they hate themselves inside. He didn't appear aware of it what he was doing. He drinks Alcohol which is potentially why.

He's coming back in a few days to finish the job so I have an opportunity to reprove him, my old ways are to be very tolerant, but part of that is not wanting to cause confrontation or unnecessary anger/anxiety for myself. I don't think he's the violent type but certainly has anger issues, just like I used to and can relate to that, The Lord is helping me with my own anger, as we speak.

I feel if I be confronting he will spread rumors of me being a "Bible Basher"

I told him I go to the local Christian Church that is in his local small town where there are only a small handful of people yet alone even less Christians. I feel already judged and opposed by him. I haven't got much of a issue with that because since becoming Born Again I have been attacked by all except a few just for telling people I am B.A. Christian, even my elderly father to a lesser extent. I'm well aware I am a channel to God and Jesus for the unsaved, but it creates a challenge. I will persevere for now with the tradesman, which I feel God wants.

Perhaps I could make a joke asking him if he left the devil at the gate today, if he says what do you mean I could say did he realize the hand gestures he made last time ? That may be asking for trouble though. I've prayed that God separate the relationship if he's going to make trouble. I hope not to provoke trouble though and show love, big challenge !

Not a Bible Basher,but a Bible believer.

I know its ironic the non believers are those bashing the Bible, but you know how believers get labeled.

"What would Jesus tell him?"
Likely what Jesus said in the Gospels : "TURN TO YHWH (GOD), for HIS Kingdom Is At Hand"

Jesus was forsaken spit on and killed,we can endure criticism to rebuke the devil.
Remember there are others who look to you for a example."

That's a good question, and good answer indeed, to set the example Jesus taught.

I personally would pray for him and cut him loose. He knows where you live and it has been reported that up to 15% of the "normal" population hears voices to some extent in America. You never know what is in someone elses head. When he told you he doesn't believe in the Jesus God, he was telling you he is a Satanist. When you continued about Jesus, it agitated him and made him angry and he started flashing his allegiance. Hes got some demons working on him and I would cut him a wide path. He isnt right and hes dangerous.

True unless he had a unclean spirit then He would have told it to keep silent and be gone.
But we do not do such things as much or at all these days.
I wonder if unclean spirits still torment mankind today?

"These days" those who recognize unclean spirits are called delusional or worse, same as Jesus was called much worse too.

The whole world is deceived
every day, unclean spirits are still common, including everywhere - temptations and traps are laid for everyone who seeks to live right,
and persecution is what to expect as Jesus said, for anyone who wants to do what is right.

when I had Demons people didn't forsake me ?
Jesus and the disciples set people free if they wanted to be - they did not forsake them but threw out the demons with a word - that's all it took (albeit at times more prayer and fasting was needed first). Note that apparently or obviously Jesus and the disciples did not touch the ones with demons. They simply cast the demons out with a word.
Only those who were sick or ill did Jesus and the disciples lay hands on, not the ones with demon(s).

However, the particular scribes and pharisees who Jesus called sons of the devil,
neither Jesus nor the Apostles nor the disciples trusted,
nor feared they any of them. nor set them free.

They could be set free also, but those who refused to be immersed rejected Jesus as Messiah and remained His enemy, separated from God.

Since the time of Christ and before Christ, the world's population has grown tremendously, presuming as the Bible states there was a war among the Angel's in Heaven.
These fallen ones are the unclean spirits spoken of being cast out.
Do you suppose due to population demands they are limited in number to only possess our politicians and Lawyers?

Yes you know the one the politicians always do with the wicked grin
If he does that again, take two pieces of metal or whatever, form a cross in front of him.

Many people use the devil sign subconsciously, ie not deliberately. It is an acquired bad habit like cussing. People tend to display habits when emotional. It's probably not personal.
