    Hello

Some thing I have trouble with is understanding the Diferance between what God wants me too do and lucky and possibly worldly oportunity.
What I mean is, when choosing to follow God there is a certain life path I chose to give up because I felt it against God because it does not bring glory but too myself. In the few months before now that path does seem to jump at me with oportunity that is beyond my dreams!
I am afraid I do not know if it is the right path for me but I feel bad to just sit by and watch oportunitys go away because I am uncertain.
My prayer has brought me zero peace on this issue and I wish to ask other Christians for advice or example of how you know what to do.

We walk by faith not sight. Be AWESOME if we could just pick up that line..open the door and say.. a Father.. should I?...... You will find He says so many times "what do you want?" Me? "Father I have prayed and still don't know. So...if this path is not of you then close the doors..open something greater!..in Jesus name".

Your not Gods puppet. Your free. What do you want? God Jesus are REAL! He is always for you. And I also go by the peace I get. Well when I was in LA I lived with a pastor and his wife. I got this job where they made film and I just moved the reels. The strange thing was.. the second I walked in to that beautiful building I felt very sick. The second I left it was gone. I told Dad.. the pastor I have to quit. See lol they made porn. I never saw .. you would have never known what they did.

If its what you want.. then take it. Have faith that in JESUS NAME if its not of Him.. not the path then something will happen and close the doors. I wanted to go to collage. So I asked a friend ..she prayed 4hours day to pray. On that call she said "the lord said "open door". .. OK? well that week I went to see this counselor. On what I can do. In that meeting.. I get up. JUST as I was leaving.. this is what he said "Maybe this is a OPEN DOOR".

We walk by faith.. step out and walk.. KNOWING.. He will always be there. I had something happen that .. blow you away. On the DOORS that opened for me. And I blew it....Hes GOD... He can open any door :) Even when we goof up and miss it. Just ask.. put on your path.. thats it. Walk by faith.

You are absolutely the only person in the world who would know.

Don't listen to what anyone else tells you about this path. Only you know if it's right for YOU.

It may be completely wrong for someone else and totally right for you.

Spend some time in the Word of God. Pray. Then listen to your heart.

My question is whether the path you gave up is really against God? Was there a Biblical principle that was violated in the path? Did it involve unrighteousness or was it closely associated with unrighteous behavior? If it was, or if there was reason to believe it was even, then you made the right decision, don't worry, and God will reward you in His time for honoring Him.

And even if you could have righteously taken that path and even if much opportunity was lost, then it is still nothing to fret over- especially since you were concerned about glorifying God and not yourself. So even if you lacked understanding and missed an opportunity then due to an oversensitive conscience or a misunderstanding of what it means to glorify God and not self, you still had a good concern and a good aim. It was better to be too scrupulous than not scrupulous enough. Study Bible principles and seek God for better understanding, but still don't regret your right intention and following it. Trust that God saw that you followed a right intention and will honor your following through on a good motive at the very least.

"for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed." (1 Samuel 2:30b)

"For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him." (2 Chronicles 6:9a)

I think sometimes, hearing from God or receiving direction from Him requires time and continued prayer. Daniel in the Bible even had to wait 21 days before he received revelation. Other times, He could just want us to wait on Him for the answer, trusting Him in the process. Asking God to remove the opportunity if it's not from Him, or to show you if it is might be a good idea.

It's always wise to be careful, because something may seem good, but actually not be from God at all. The enemy often times will use what seems good to try to draw us from God. Then again, that may not be the case; it all depends. I think continuing in prayer and waiting on Him will eventually bring the answer you seek. It also helps to be open to His answer from an unlikely source, as God can speak to us not only in prayer, but in directing our thoughts, through His word, through others, and in other ways.

    Hope that helps.

I worry what if I spend much time thinking and praying and miss oportunity and God is like what are you doing?? lol
But I over analyze and if I jump into some thing that is at the end bad for me and what if I lose grace of God because I chose wrong?
    Thank you for messaging
I think God knows better than I do? But I do not know what he wants me to do yet.

    Thank you so much
I think I worry if I miss a sign right in front of my face lol
But I feel like a blind person driving
I want to find my point but I worry if what I want is hiding what God wants me to do.
Or if I want to do this because God wants me to?

I will continue meditating on this hope to find His answer.
Thank you for your message :)

What is the specific opportunity in question, and why the uncertainty?

I have opportunity to do modeling and I do not want to follow a path that can lead me to vanity and I have seen the life behind it and it is a surrounding of a not wholesome life.
Even if I go in it with an idea of not bringing glory to myself what if I fail?
I think God wanted me to go away from that life but I have received offers that are once in a life time. I turn some down and it feels so bad.. I worry if it is God telling me to follow or if it is worldly luck.
My prayers do not bring me peace on this and time only keeps moving.
That is all of the detail
I do not want to seem vain talking about it but it is important

if the life path you are choosing isn't in violation of biblical principles and isn't going to defame God or damage your believing witness then have at it.

The part in your quote that I underlined above says it all. You definitely made the right choice. Can you imagine one of the women helpers of the Apostles in the New Testament also being a model and being involved in the lifestyle that comes with that? Of course not. If it was wrong and improper for a first century Christian then it's wrong and improper for anyone- we are to walk in the same faith and the same principles they walked in, including separation from the world with its lusts and vanities. You did good which you shouldn't go back on; rather go forward with the same attitude and desires to please God which caused you to reject this career. You will not regret it in eternity, and it wouldn't be a surprise if God rewards you here also for honoring Him like you did.

Thanks. I can see where that would be problem.

I once had a blind date with a beautiful girl who modeled for a high class women's wear store in town. She was so stuck up I couldn't wait for the date to be over. And this while she (and I) was still in high school.

I don't think it's vain at all VMae, this seems like a very important decision. :)

Modeling might start off well as a career, but could lead down a dark path later on down the road. Sometimes God is silent as a way of showing His disapproval over something. I can't say for sure if that's the case. But if this was from God, He would provide confirmation and let you know without a shadow of a doubt. The fact there's uncertainty might be His way of letting you know He's against it, especially if you felt early on it wasn't the right path.

No one can really say for sure if it's His will or not; this decision is completely up to you. But giving up something for God (although very difficult at times) will always lead to something greater later on. God always has the best in mind for us, He doesn't want us driving blind lol.

Here's another perspective on the issue just encase: Can a Christian be a model? Is a modeling career something a Christian can consider? | GotQuestions.org

Yes you are right it is a dangerous path. I think I must be uncertain because I do not want to let it go even if I should. I think about how I will use the influence to share Gods love but I also know my weakness before and I do not want to go down a dark path again. The link you put is a good one thank you.

So do You think being uncertain is the sign of it is not for me?
The path for us will always be obvious without doubt?

Psalm 25:10-12: "10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. 11 For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. 12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose."

Psalm 37:16-17, 23-25: "16 A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked. 17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord upholdeth the righteous.... The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread."

Edit: And I'll add this passage too since it's so relevant to this issue and since you can see the snares, temptations, lusts, etc ahead on that path already.
1 Timothy 6:9-12: "9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses."

I wouldn't. Modeling, for many women, is a gateway to sexual abuse and exploitation. It is an industry that makes its money on physical beauty, luxury, vain things, in many cases sex or immodesty, and the objectification of both men and women.

It's a good industry to avoid. Especially if you are trying to follow Christ at the same time.
